Muscle pain in early pregnancy- am I a wimp?

Hi all,

I wanted to share as I wondered if I was alone in struggling with this (I've asked my mum and she didn't have it with me)

I'm 10 weeks pregnant, and last couple of days I've been getting really tough muscle pain/ache in my lower back and legs. Not stabbing pains or anything, not a worry in that respect- just a dull, aching constant pain. I read it's due to a hormone called relaxin softening ligaments or something.

Which makes walking hurt a bit and feeling like after being on my feet for like 30/ 40 minutes that I need to sit down. Which isn't usual for me as I am very active.

Am I being a wimp? Has anyone else experienced this in early pregnancy (eg, muscle fatigue)? I knew to expect this later on, when I've got a big bump, but not now xx

I had this with both my sons, it felt a lot like restless leg syndrome. Magnesium tablets help with muscle ache, but woudk reckoned asking pharmacist before you take with being pregnant x

You are not the only one and you are not a wimp.

PGP or SPD is common in pregnancy, and as you’ve read it’s not to do with the weight of the bump, but the relaxin hormone.

just cos your mum didn’t have doesn’t mean you won’t. Some women have it so severely they end up in a wheelchair temporarily! Not saying that will happen to you, but just that it’s not about being a wimp or not.

listen to your body, take care of yourself. Nobody else can feel what you’re feeling
