Can they tell the sex at 16 weeks on a scan?

I usually have a private scan at about 24 weeks, just for photos and confirming NHS's sexing ect ..

But Ive just found a place that is close to me that offeres sexing from 16 weeks and is only £4 dearer than the scanner I usually go to who offers sexing from 20 weeks.

Do you think they would get it right at that point?

Yes we get one but Im impatient

It make it 100X worse because my 12 week scan picture clearly shows the 'nobbly bit' on the baby but at 12 weeks the boys bit and girls bit are virtully the same the sexing is told by the 'angle of the dangle' apparantly and I can't tell so thats made me even more impatient that I have the ansew in front of me but cant tell!

look at the 3rd box down, you can see that bit on my scan! lol

16 weeks yes as babies sex organs are defined at 14 weeks. up til then all babies are/look female (hence why all sexes have nipples!!)

bethoo · 11/06/2008 10:30

both sexes since there are only 2!!

scorpio1 · 11/06/2008 10:32

I was told with my ds at 15 weeks, though I had heard that it is easier to be sure it is a boy than a girl

CoteDAzur · 11/06/2008 10:50

We were told at 12 weeks scan.

The doctor who did it said (and showed us) that at that stage, both boys and girls have a protruding part which later becomes their sex organ. This part points up in boys and down in girls.

CoteDAzur · 11/06/2008 10:51

LOL @ 'angle of dangle'

That is exactly it.

Disenchanted · 11/06/2008 10:51

if you look where the + is then go up slightly and to the right theres a ball with another ball bit (very scentific terminology being used here) on it which looks excatly like the ones on the pics,

but is it boy or girl?
