Hi all,
had my scan at 16w6d today and they told me it’s definitely a girl. I had a very strong intuition it would be a boy so just posting here to get input from others if they also see strong signs of a girl. Thanks in advance.

Thank you all. I am very anxious about having a girl, I’m not a girly girl and was a tomboy throughout my childhood and worry I’m not the right person to be a girl mom. Like I won’t be able to do her justice on her fully becoming herself. Trying to talk myself out of these thoughts but will give it time. Sorry deep rant.

Honestly she will be the absolute love of your life, don't pay too much mind to how you see her being they tend to come along and humble us quite often.
Congratulations.

I have 2 DDs they are both so different.

Oldest does like pink, glitter and princesses but has never really played with girly toys - dolls, Barbie's etc. Would much prefer, magnetic tiles, board games like battleships and monopoly. Loves bugs and geo catching.

They are all so individual. She enjoys playing with myself and my husband equally x

Is there some shame for you about being a tomboy? I wonder why you assume she’ll be ‘girly’ when you weren’t?

You know that children are so much more than their sex. It really need have no bearing on their personality. Boys can be timid, sweet, sensitive. Girls can be boisterous, adventurous, aggressive. Just let her be who she is and enjoy her.

Take care OP.

OP - there is no one way to be a girl or a woman. My twinkly baby girl became a tomboyish preschooler, an athletic pre-teen footballer, and is now a swishy-haired and fashion-conscious 18 year old, fitting in sport and volunteering between her A level studies as she prepares for university. Your lovely girl will surprise and delight you in all sorts of ways as she discovers her unique talents and ambitions. You’ll be the best mum to her. Congratulations!

Yes I remember throughout my childhood other girls made fun of me for not being girly enough. Including my sister.
Totally agree on every child being their own personality. My son is sensitive and gentle natured, and I have always encouraged that. But I do feel there are so many societal expectations on girls to look and be a certain way that if you don’t fit in that mould people are very vocal to let you know.
Ofcourse I’ll be using the same principles I used for my son that she should be whomever she wants to be, but I fear if we’re very different personalities on how feminine we are we’ll just be clashing throughout after her toddler years. 🙈

You have no idea what kind of a person they'll be, regardless of gender. And there can be strengths as a parent in being different to your child too.
