Overdue at Christmas and feeling fed up. Anyone else?

Just that really! Was due on 15th of December and not had any real signs of labour starting. Attempted a sweep on Wednesday which was very unsuccessful and deflating. Already have a 5 year old who was 12 days overdue but really thought this one would be with us by Christmas! If it doesn't happen by tomorrow I don't really want it to happen until after Christmas but obviously there's nothing you can do about that. I'm finding all the uncertainty and lack of being able to plan quite hard. Plus I think it would be a bad birthday 😐. Got an induction booked on the 29th as my DD was late so wanted to give myself the best chance of going into labour naturally. Anyone else in a similar boat? This feels like such a physical and mental endurance test at this point!

Have you tried anything to get labour going?

My nephew has his birthday on Christmas Eve and other than having to have an early party with school friends, (his mum does it early December), his birthday has always been filled with joy.

Dont be afraid to try to get the baby here if you’re keen.

@Gustavo1 I feel like I've been trying absolutely everything at this point. In fact I've tried so many things that I am getting so fed up of trying and have now kind of given up and tried to accept that baby is just not ready. I never want to eat another date or drink a cup of that fricking tea again lol. I've also been walking a lot sitting on the ball a lot, doing all the other old wives tales. I even paid to have two sessions of reflexology which was relaxing but did nothing to get things going. Good to know about your nephew though it's nice to hear that birthdays close to Christmas can still be joyful.

Aw, I’m sorry. Being overdue is absolutely miserable.

Over three overdue babies, the only thing I ever did that got things moving, the very same day, was a bit of self care in the shower with toy. I know that is totally cringe and absolutely TMI but it totally did the job of a sweep and I was holding my baby later that same day.

You could try giving yourself a sweep 😬 if your fingers are long enough! Unfortunately some babies just aren't ready to come out until a couple of weeks past their due date 😅

This isn't good advice. You don't want to introduce infection.

If your fingers are clean it's no different to masturbation or sex surely? Or just wear gloves like the midwifes do!

Midwives use sterile gloves for vaginal exams
