Booked for an induction?

Is it normal to receive a call at 38 weeks pregnant to book an induction date for 41 weeks?
I never had this with my first and I went overdue by 4 days and induction was never even a discussion…I did say I would prefer not to be induced and no midwife has ever asked me

I would think they are probably just ringing now because they may be on skeleton staff for the next 2 weeks over Christmas so booking any potentials in now.

They might be wanting to have it booked with it being the holidays. but you absolutely don't have to have it. due date is estimated, it's normal to go to 42 weeks and safe unless you are told otherwise. my midwife asked me at my 40 week appointment if I wanted to book and I said no, I didn't want it booked in and hanging over me.

It’s standard to be booked in for an induction at your 38 / 40 week midwife appointment for 41 weeks. I declined an induction at 41 week and had it booked for 41 weeks + 5 days. I had the induction and had a successful natural birth within 24 hours. Congrats & good luck!

It is quite standard now yes due to new research showing an increase in stillbirths over 40 weeks but it is a VERY small increase, and you can of course decline x
