Retained products after a missed miscarriage

Reassurance needed… Today I had a scan and received the news that I have 2.5cm vascular retained product following my MVA for a missed miscarriage nearly three weeks ago - the dr was keen for me to do 10 days of provera (progesterone) then stop which will induce a bleed and hopefully expel the retained tissue. I then have a follow up scan and if it is still there I will be a hysteroscopy. Has anyone else had this experience? If so did the meds work and did you cycle return?
I'm so worried that my cycle will never return or my womb is damaged somehow now and my fertility doomed, I could really do with some reassurance.

Provera worked for me when I had a missed miscarriage, with slightly more retained. My cycle returned to normal about 3 months afterwards and I got pregnant straight away with DD who’s now nearly 4 x

@blankcanvas3thank you for sharing this and sorry you went through it too. This gives me some hope and reassurance, I couldn’t find much info on provera for retained products so it’s good to know someone else had it and it worked! Was your retained products vascular do you know? X

Yes they were! I hope it goes okay for you. I found it to be quite sore, like a really really bad period. I was in bed for a couple of days with a hot water bottle but after that I was okay. I bled for a while, then I think I got my period two weeks after that, then nothing for about 10 weeks. Then the first time I ovulated was when I fell pregnant but it was an accident really as we hadn’t been expecting to conceive again so soon x

@blankcanvas3ah okay that’s so reassuring to know that it went well for you even though it was vascular as this is my worry. Wow so it did mess around with your cycle quite a bit by the sounds of it, but I’m so glad it worked out for you eventually! Can I ask while you were on the provera/waiting for the product to pass did you have pelvic/back pains/cramps? I’ve felt so crampy and tender and I don’t know if this is normal x
