Hello,
due my second baby in April and trying to pick where to give birth in Glasgow. Had my first in RAH and it was good but my husband wasn’t allowed to attend until I was in the labour room (labour was very fast so he only made the last half hour) and now the midwife led unit has closed I believe?
Has anyone got recent experience of QEUH? I’ve also considered Forth Valley in Falkirk.
I’ve to be consultant led.
Thank You in advance!

Are you allowed up to larbet? I had lovely care there.

Hi @Wherestheteenguide yes we have looked into Forth Valley but we’ll be staying in Glasgow for the birth so QE makes more sense. Have heard great things about FV though.

It's a while back but my friend had hers in QE. No issues. Good luck! I miss that part of the world 🙂

Have you considered the Royal?

Hi @ladyamy I haven’t considered there but will look into it. Due to the distance form my sisters house I will probably go with QE.

Experience will vary massively, my first baby was at queen Elizabeth. I was consultant led and it was a horrific experience which ended in me making a huge complaint. Some of the midwives were absolutely amazing though.

My friend had an amazing time there and her care was second to none. Her whole experience was completely different to mine xx

Thank you @McGregor33 i appreciate your input. I guess every maternity ward is going to have good and bad stories. My first labour was 2 1/2 hours so I guess I just have to hope the same for this one!

I had my first baby at the QE 2023 - pregnant again with my second, will be having an elective section this time. (First ended up in an emergency section after failed inductions).
I chose this hospital over the PRM, personal preference and had no issues last time round.
Hope this helps :-)
