Third baby and stop start labour!

I’ve been having stop/start contractions for over a week and it’s driving me mad. I have lost my mucus plug, had a bloody show and this morning noticed my bump had dropped. 10am i started contracting every 10 mins and this went on for 3 hours followed by a large amount of mucus plug coming out. After a few hours the contractions stopped and now I’m feeling so defeated. Why am I not going into active labour 😭 did anyone experience the same?

I had stop start labour but only for 3 days and it was mild. It would come on in the evening and be gone by morning. Think I lost my mucus plug on day 3. Then I had a sweep and basically sent me into labour instantly and contractions got very strong very quick. Having contractions and losing your mucus plug are all good signs of progress. Hopefully you're in labour as I'm writing this.

Yes I did with the 3rd! And then I overheard a midwife tell someone that this is very normal with a 3rd baby! They do their own thing. I started having episodes of regular contractions from about 38 weeks, i was timing them, they got steadily more painful over a few hours and they always just stopped! I was convinced she was going to be early, but so many false alarms and I ended up getting induced at 41 weeks. Obviously that’s just my story and yours will be different but I hope baby comes soon for you! It’s so frustrating x
