Pregnancy insomnia - can’t stay asleep past 5am!

I’m currently 20 weeks pregnant with my second baby, for my entire pregnancy I’ve been waking multiple times a night and then my brain jolts me awake at 5am where I’m awake for the rest of the day, my son is 2 and is an extremely good sleeper however he does not stop when he is awake and is all round very full on, and as soon as it gets to 7am when he’s waking up I’m already exhausted and have no energy to do anything massively exciting with him which makes me feel terrible! Any tips for getting some more sleep in would be much appreciated or am I in for another 20 weeks of it? 😅

How many hours of sleep are you getting on average?

Me too OP! Insomnia solidarity! Watching with interest and hope it improves for you. If I get really desperate I have a coffee. I think if I did some exercise this would improve but currently can't seem to find the time/motivation

I’ve not slept past 5am (that’s a late one for me) since having my kids. They are now 17 and 15 and can sleep all day.
I really hope things improve for you @Bornunderpunches

I can hardly keep my eyes open by 9:30pm and out for the count by 10pm so about 7 hours broken up by loo visits!

That's not too bad OP.
Us menopausal women have the same issue...no wonder we're irritable.🤣
I take magnesium and it helps a bit.You would have to ask your midwife though as I have no idea if it's advisable in pregnancy.

Go to bed earlier 🤷🏼‍♀️
