Hi all, just wondering what your combined blood screening results were following the 12 week scan for Edward’s, Patau’s and Down syndrome please? Curious if I should feel any concern and book a private NIPT, thank you!

Mine were 1:20,000 for all 3 but it’s not common for it to be so low risk (I’m a midwife). Anything >1:150 is reassuring.

LavenderSweetPea · 09/12/2025 19:53

I think 1:1000 for downs and 1:5000 for Edwards. I did the NIPT privately for peace of mind (and had decided I would do this before I got my screening results back no matter what the screening results were).

Low risk with first son. Second son didn’t have it as didn’t have first scan until I was 20+ weeks. With my 7 year old daughter she was 1:99 for Down syndrome. The scan was normal but the hcg in the blood test was abnormally high. My youngest daughter who’s 5 months I didn’t bother with it because i wouldn’t have had further testing regardless. X

TBH, I don't even recall seeing the combined test results. I'd paid for the NIPT at 10 weeks which sadly came back as positive for T13- Patau syndrome. At the follow up scan, the NT was 6.5mm and there were obvious issues seen on the scan.

Do you know what the NT was OP or were there any concern on the scans?

hellobanana · 10/12/2025 00:22

Hi @JDM625no concerns on the scan, 1.7mm NT just my Down syndrome came back as 1 in 436. I’m technically obese and not in my 20s and my PAPP A was on the low end of normal so hoping those are the reasons for a result in the hundreds. @littlemissalwaystired do you know much about how the result is built up? Maybe my hcg is high but don’t have that result on badger notes but could call and ask.

@hellobanana they take a ratio between your HCG and papp a. If both are high it's considered fine, if both are low also fine but if one is low and the other is high it's considered a potential risk factor. As your papp a was on the low end of normal you probably have normal to high HCG which is contributing towards your work result. That and age, by the time you're in your mid thirties you're just going to be given a higher chance result.

Alltheusefulitems · 10/12/2025 06:30

Mine was 1:200 and I wasn't concerned as I was 42 so assumed my age had increased the chance.

DarkLion · 10/12/2025 08:18

1 in 97,000 but I was 19 when I had my son so they said age was a factor

Hey! I had the screening and my results are 1/520 for DS and 1/5000 for T18 & T13. I'm also a little worried. I'm classed as low risk but know friends who have had much more reassuring results. My NT was 2.3m and PAPPA-A was 0.81 which are both within the normal range. HCG was not reported so I'm unsure what this was. I'm 30, was 13 weeks at testing. I recently had a private scan at 16w+2 and everything looked perfect and nothing was raised here. For now I'm taking my results for what they are, which is low risk. NIPT is fairly expensive, and the outcome for me wouldn't change anything. Hoping the 20w scan will give us more reassurance but trying not to compare or fuel my anxiety.

1 in 5000 for both, in this pregnancy.

With my first I think it was 1 in 2500, or there abouts.

chocolateychurros · 09/01/2026 12:40

Hi mine was 1 in 5000.
