Hi, I want ideas as to how our ultrasound technician can help with our gender reveal, so nice and small! I have a 4 year old and I want her included in this, thank you.

Wait until the baby is born….that’s the reveal

We asked for it to be kept a secret at the scan which we all went to (my 4 year old enjoyed watching that and got involved), then we gave the gender reveal slip to a close friend of ours, and gave her the pink & blue tissue, along with blue and pink ribbon and a teddy bear for her to sort accordingly when she knew the gender. She packed this all up in a little box which we wanted our 4 year old to open for us which she loved cos the teddy inside was her surprise and the colour for us was our surprise! Well, hers too cos she knew what it all meant 🥰

It depends on if its a private or NHS scan?
Some nhs sonographers won't do it for you and will tell you they are just there to do the growth checks etc, Others will be happy to help as long as they are certain. I was lucky and had a nice one 6 years ago who wrote in an envelope for us and a friend had a balloon made up for our boys to pop. We were hoping to do the same this time round as our little girl is 5 and very excited to be a big sister, but the sonographer was quite short with us at a 16 week scan and told us straight thats not what the scans are for etc
Fingers crossed you get a nice one who's willing to help you.

Some places the technician can turn the lights in the room pink or blue to reveal

I wouldn't take a 4yo to a scan, what if there's bad news?

We got the tech to write it down and then did looked when out at a nice dinner- 4yo equivalent, maybe little party at home with balloons, streamers etc.

This mentality baffles me. You may as well say 'I wouldn't take a 4 year-old in a car. What if there's a crash?'

OP my son was 4 when we paid for a private 4D scan. Turns out we had to go back 3 times because the baby was laying awkwardly. Each time he begged to find out if its a bot or girl. The last time, we let him pick how to find out. We sat in our car afterwards and he scratched a card that said Boy or Girl.

Second time we were having twins and we all went to a gender scan together. We bought cannons and let them off in the house together.

It's a surprise whether you find out at birth or 16 weeks. The 20 week scan is not the place to find out. They are solely there to check on baby and often disregard any sex excitement. We loved hearing our eldest suggest names and pick little gifts throughout the pregnant. He ended up naming 2 of our daughters.

I really like the flower reveal. Have your 4 year old give you pink or blue flowers!
