Hair dye in pregnancy

Hi Ladies
What is the advice about hair dye in pregnancy? I was about to book in at the hairdressers to have my highlights re-done for summer then seemed to remember you shouldn't dye your hair (or have it permed) when pregnant. Is this right?

My hairdresser advised that he only used 'natural' dyes on pregnant women (as opposed to chemicals - so no peroxide!). he also said that he didn't use dyes that need heating on pregnant women as you can get unpredictable results (as your core temp is a degree or so higher anyway).

Not sure if any of this matters but it made sense to me so I followed the advice. BTW - I didn't/am not going to dye my hair in the 1st 12 weeks anyway. I work on the better safe than sorry motto!

Apparently it's safe but the results are a bit unpredictable.

My hairdresser is fab and said that highlights are fine as they don't touch your scalp. I'm getting mine done on Friday at 37 weeks, to cheer myself up!
