I had a scan a few days ago it showed I'm was 5weeks 5days when they did the scan the doctor said they could see something else either a hematoma or a second baby.

I was wondering if people had same or similar situation as me and which did it turn out to be.

If it is a hematoma what are people experience with them and am I at a higher chance of miscarriage?

Thank u for any info I can be given this is my 5th pregnancy with one successful pregnancy with my now 6yr old had a severe miscarriage 5 months ago after being told I was having a missed miscarriage and then needed urgent care.

I had what they called a severe subchorionic hematoma at 14 weeks (the size of a coke can) and was warned that it may not end well, but my now 7yo boy is sleeping just across the landing. From what I understood, many do just resolve by themselves and not all are as large as mine was. So just wanted to say that hematomas aren’t always bad news - it can still work out. Hope everything works out well for you, OP Flowers

hematomas are much more common than twins.

i had one that was visible at an early 9 week scan, never had any bleeding and it was gone by the time I got to the 12 week scan.

I had a medium sized s.c hematoma and did bleed on and off for two weeks (dark old blood) but every scan was totally fine. Just had a scan yesterday and my body had reabsorbed it and it’s gone! 11 weeks now. It’s very common, can be worrying, esp with bleeding, but absolutely doesn’t have to mean bad news.
