Positive test but no idea what’s going on

I had my nexplanon removed on 7th November.

Had a bleed start on 23rd November that last about 4 days, which I assumed was my period.

I went and had a transvaginal scan and they couldn’t see anything, couldn’t see anything in my tubes. She did notice a pocket of bloody fluid near one of my ovaries but said it was only small but could indicate an ectopic even though my tubes were clear at this stage. She also noted my uterine lining is thin.

I am having pain in my right side and cramps but it has eased and some intermittent pain in the left side (where the fluid was) and I’m constipated like I was with my last pregnancy.

Just want to be excited but I have no idea what’s going on and I’m not feeling very positive.

I had bloods done so should get the results tomorrow morning.

Does anyone have any similar or positive stories to share as struggling with this.

Was your pregnancy test definitely positive? If you had a period starting 23rd Nov then you’re approaching ovulation.

Jess1898 · 05/12/2025 18:24

Yep, definitely positive!

When did you test positive?
And when was the transvaginal scan?

When did you test positive?
And when was the transvaginal scan?

Both today

Your dates are quite confusing. Was the test a strong positive or very faint and might be an evap?

Jess1898 · 05/12/2025 18:53

That’s what the nurse said but she’s thinking my bleed wasn’t an actual period. The test was strong, I could see the line immediately and it was pink so I know it wasn’t an evap

So Implant removed 7th.
Bleed 23-27th - was this a normal period for you? Length/ heaviness of flow etc? Or difficult to tell as coming off the implant?

Positive test today. Did you test before today? Any negative tests at any point? How strong is the test? As strong as the control line? Or weaker but still pink?

And why did you have a scan today? And were did you have it done? At a EPU or a private scanning place?

Sorry for all the questions, just trying to match up dates.

This seemed like a normal period. My periods are usually light and it was no different to what it always has been!

I did have a negative test a couple days after the bleed stopped but the test I did today was very strong, just a tiny bit lighter than the control line. Came up with long 30 seconds of me doing the test!

had a scan to see if we could see how far along. It was down at the EPU and they did bloods as well!

Well if the pregnancy test is that strong you are definitely pregnant! The timing would work for the bleed to be implantation bleeding I think? Or something to do with the blood they could see near the ovary?

Given how early you are I wouldn’t expect you to see anything on the scan, given you got a negative test a few days after the bleed you are probably only around 4 weeks pregnant? Did you test/ have any signs of ovulation/ only have sex on a certain day to help pin dates down further?

I guess the thin uterine lining is a worry, as it can be linked to ectopic pregnancy and miscarriage. It’s great they have taken bloods. Are they taking more in 2 days time to see if HCG is rising? Have they offered you a rescan?

I feel they have really left you in limbo, no wonder you are struggling. Hopefully it’s just too early to see anything and you have a sticky bean!

I really appreciate your responses!

it would be the right timing for implantation bleeding. They said the blood they could see is possibly from a burst cyst or could be a sign of an ectopic.

yeah I would be around 4 weeks pregnant. I did do an OPK that was nearly as dark as the control line on the 14th November which I think would be the right timing for the bleed and the positive test.

they are going to look at the results tomorrow and then book more in for Sunday I think. I haven’t been offered a rescan.

They have, and I kept asking them questions but they just repeat the same thing “let’s wait for the blood” which luckily I’ll have the results by 10am tomorrow!

I have just started to bleed so I’m assuming that it’s a very early miscarriage given I’m only 4 weeks and hope it’s not an ectopic. Honestly I’ve never been so stressed!

Was it only the one positive test you had?

CandyCaneKisses · 05/12/2025 20:56

Maybe the bleed was implantation. Good luck.

Namesy · 05/12/2025 21:24

You would be in significant pain if it was ectopic so hopefully it’s not that. It does sound like an early loss and a lot of women wouldn’t know they were pregnant at this point and would assume it was a period. I hope the discomfort stops soon.

Oh no, sorry to hear you’ve started to bleed. Hopefully it’s still blood from the possible cyst. Wait for the bloods to come back before completely giving up hope.

It sounds like they are doing all the right things with the bloods/ redraw on Sunday so at least they are doing all they can at this point. Doesn’t make it less agonising for you though! Sorry you are going through this 😞
