Monitoring baby movements

Anyone else find it very anxiety inducing? Especially if you’re already an anxious person. I’m 28 weeks and have contacted my midwife to get checked (for the first time actually) …. But I find that some nights he kicks LOADS and others it’s very light. I don’t know if that’s something to be worried about. Or some days I don’t notice it because I’m busy but don’t know if that’s because I’m too busy to notice or if he hasn’t kicked. But I love feeling him kick so feel like I’d notice even if busy.

anyway, I’m surprised this is the first time I’m going to see a midwife, I hate wasting peoples time but my baby’s movements seem to vary greatly and not sure if that’s normal or whether it should be a strict pattern everyday.

I completely sympathise. I would recommend looking at this very helpful website: https://www.kickscount.org.uk/

Hi @Babybear260 I'm very similar! Almost 30 weeks and the movements are bigger than they were for sure, but some days lighter than others. I tend to feel more in the evening when I'm sitting on the sofa, or if I've been still a while, ut often when I'm rushing about the place it's a lot lighter. My midwife said its pretty common to feel less during the day/busy periods and more at night, and said its definitely more about noticing the pattern doe your baby, rather than counting kicks.

I have bought a kick counter bracelet which had helped, as then rather than thinking 'have I felt him today' and freaking out, I keep track as I go along. I'm still anxious though, I paid for a private scam last week to check in, and despite all checks being fine I still feel anxious! I'm pregnant after losses and IVF so anxious anyway, but most friends I've spoken to who've had babies said they were also anxious about kicks

My midwife also said any time I was worried to go in and they'll do a heartbeat/baby movement check
