Due second baby any day and dc1 only wants mummy

My dc1 (22mo) has become incredibly clingy to me over the last month and won't settle for his dad anymore.
Will only be put up bed by me and when he wakes overnight (50% of nights) he wants me to sleep next to him. Screams when dh tries ...

I'm a bit terrified how things are going to work when the baby comes. I ebf my first and did all the night feeds which I would like to do again.

Is this just a phase? Tell me it'll be ok!!!

It'll be fine. My dd is the same with my dh, if I'm around. If I'm out of the house though, then she's quite happy with him.

I would work on only you being able to do bedtimes and night wakes though. You're going to be shattered doing that and also EBFing a newborn.

We recently tackled this with my dd and it's so freeing now that it's not always on me. Also surprisingly easy. You just have to stay firm and let dh get on with it. He'll get there. It's really improved their bond and relationship too.

Thanks! It didn't used to have to me and my dh did the majority whilst I was knackered during pregnancy but it seems that as I get closer to my due date he's completely rejecting my dh 😂

I wonder if he senses something is about to happen

I’m 33 weeks and my 2 year old is getting the same.

I read the other day and then saw on, admittedly, the Olivia and Alex Bowen parenting documentary, that the cortisol and oxytocin that women give out towards the end of pregnancy can be picked up my young children (and pets apparently), making them clingier and unsettled.

Not sure how true it is, but from further reading, it goes away when the new arrival is here and they go to “helping mummy” mode.

all the best OP, with the birth and the coming weeks. X
