C section date

I’m due 27th Dec. I was initially offered an elective c section date of 24th December (39+4) I wasn’t happy with this as it’s so close to Christmas (selfishly and also due to childcare) and I pushed for 19th (38+6). They initially wasn’t happy with this but agreed. Now I’m thinking I’ve made a mistake, is this too early? Baby is currently on 17th percentile, doctor isn’t worried about growth.

if it doesn’t happen on the 24th due to other emergencies it will be pushed back to 27th which I’m worried will be too late.

I wouldn’t worry about 38+6 at all. I was scheduled for 39+0 and went into labour at 38+4 anyway. I’d defo go for the earlier date and enjoy a wonderful Christmas with your tiny baby

@TerrazzoChips thank you! I just worry I’ve made the wrong decision x

My ELCS was at 39 weeks exactly. DS was small (9th percentile) but totally fine and I don’t think a few more days would have made any difference whatsoever. We went home in the standard 24 hours and it was an easy recovery. I would have pushed for exactly the same as you as it means you’ll hopefully be home for Christmas!

I wouldn’t be worried about that gestation for a c section. My main concern would be though that if it has to be pushed back due to emergencies or anything else then it may end up being Christmas.
