The gestational diabetes uk Facebook group was a a life saver and you will find loads of women going through the same as you.

If you have it try not to panic. I’ve had it twice and have two beautiful babies. It doesn’t always mean medication, I was able
to control mine with diet and exercise. Above all don’t ever blame yourself it’s often hormonal and you can’t prevent that.

I had it with my son and it was easy peasy to deal with. The most annoying part was remembering to test my blood sugar 1 hour after every meal. I stayed diet controlled and had a petite 6lb 7oz baby (he decided to arrive 8 days early!) A very easy 4 hour delivery.

For the test itself, charge your headphones and download a film or something. If you can get a corner seat to lean on a bit of wall, it will be comfier. Take a water bottle (you can drink water during it) and wear lots of layers because the hospital will either be freezing cold or hotter than the sun. Good luck!
