I've just been put forward for a promotion at work based on the work I have been doing for the past year. This would only be a change in title and minor pay bump to reflect the work I've been doing for the previous year. I've been told this won't be official until March. In the meantime I found out I'm pregnant and have been feeling awful. I've been trying to push through as much as possible and not taken any sick days however I am reaching a breaking point. I feel unable to do my work currently for how I'll I'm feeling. I brought it up to my project director ( she is not my line manager but I don't work with my lm) and she completely ignored my request for reasonable adjustments. I'm feeling burned out from the pregnancy sickness and trying to do a very demanding job with no accomodations. My midwife suggested I go off sick leave and I'm considering it as I feel I really need to for my well-being. I'm really scared of repercussions against my promotion even though it's illegal. I dont know what to do should I try just to power through?

If you really want to have this baby and take care of yourself, take sick leave and make sure you state it is pregnancy related sick leave. This will protect you legaly from unfair dismissal.
good luck hope it gets better for you

I had two pregnancies with hyperemesis last year both ended in miscarriage. The first I struggled into work as much as I could and made my worse. Lost 4kg and ended up having a fall due to dizziness and spraining my ankle. The next pregnancy I accepted a 4 week sick note and rested my sickness was worse but the tole it took on my body was less. I only lost another 1kg and coped much better.
6 weeks later my company announced redundancies and let half of my team go including myself. They showed no loyalty to any of us that left. We were informed of our redundancies on Friday afternoon at was the end. I didn't see or hear from anyone after that. I had a week to return all the it equipment and my pass but no one turned up at the office to collect so I had to leave it and lock myself out of the office. I am so glad that didn't put my wellbeing above work. The redundancies came out of the blue and like a flick of a switch they went from being supportive employers to ruthless.

Look after yourself, I would speak to your GP. If you think you could work with some adjustments you could ask for a fit note instead of a sick note which would stipulate what work you are able to do and what you can't
