Something rubbing painfully on my ribs

Something internal, I guess one of my organs, has clearly been pushed up by the baby and is rubbing on my ribs. It gets sore quite fast if I sit for any length of time and only really stops once I go to bed and sleep in a particular position. It started at about week 26 and has been getting worse, I'm at week 32 now. I mentioned to the midwives at week 28 and they just said to keep an eye on it, but I'm a bit worried that whatever organ is hurting me might actually be being damaged? I suspect there's nothing that can be done but just wanted to know if others have had similar experiences.

I had this in my first pregnancy. Really sore pain in my left lower ribs. Having read up about it (I'm a doctor) it seemed to be due to the fact that the ribs are being pushed out because your abdomen is expanding and this is stretching the ligaments so they are sore. It was really uncomfortable. I couldn't sit at a table for a long meal and was most comfortable in bed.
It went as soon as my daughter was born.
33 years on I have no ill effects. I didn't have the same problem with my next pregnancy.
Oh my daughter was a "frank" breech so head at one side and legs extended at the other side(in a "V" shape) so she really couldn't move much and I don't think that helped.

Sorry not much help but maybe the explanation will help.

I had it too. A bit of (very) gentle exercise might help jiggle things into a better position? Also gently massage the sore area. And warm baths.

But ultimately, pregnancy is just monumentally uncomfortable and you'll only feel better after you give birth, sorry. This is the main reason I've decided never to have a third

Thanks very much both, that's reassuring! Yes I didn't have this with my first one but maybe he was in a different position or something.

In my case it was ds's massive foot....but that may have been a bit later on. I could actually see the shape of it and he used to push it right up and I would push it back down. His feet are still the same shape now....just mens size 10's now.

just a wee bit extra information @Blueyelloworange

I used to joke my girl lived in my ribs, after being born extremely premature the surgeon said they’d had to cut further up than usual as she was so far up 🤣

So there is every chance it’s your baby x
