Excuse for not going on flumes!

We are off to center parcs next week.
I am 16wks pregnant but haven't told our two kids (8&4) yet or my mum who will also be there some of the time.
(Plan to tell them all over christmas)

Difficulty is, I am pretty sure i won't be able to go on the outdoor rapids or any of the flumes, OR the hot tubs!

I need a strong believable excuse to tell DD as I know she will be wanting me to and ask why I can't! (And some sort of cover up to tell my mum too)

Ideas welcome.. ..

I feel a bit queasy today I’m afraid.

WonderingAboutBabies · 27/11/2025 09:06

Flumes = back pain...

Hot tubs = dirty and you saw a plaster floating around

Hellinnnnn · 27/11/2025 09:07

Hope I’m not sickening for something.

Just say you don’t feel well, I assume you’re going for the weekend ?

Polly199068 · 27/11/2025 09:09

Period?

Keroppi · 27/11/2025 09:10

Start saying you feel unwell a few days before to your mum and dd. Then you feel queasy on the day so no flumes. Perhaps its an inner ear infection so you don't want to get it too wet or get motion sick

Personally I would do hot tubs by 16 weeks but not stay in overly long, a quick dip should be fine. My understanding from my prev pgs is that high temps in v early pregnancy can affect foetal development but by 16 weeks most things are formed so the high temp risk is fainting or dehydration. But I'm open to there being changes now and more information on the risks

Going Mon- Fri.Will probably swim 3 times (once each day)
Did think period excuse, but that means I won't be able to swim at all but would quite like to go in the main pool still.
Back pain/tummy pain might wash....

The hot tubs at Center Parcs are really not that hot! They are basically just a slightly warmer small swimming pool. You could say you were cold sitting in them, same with the rapids. I probably would do the tamer flames, but understand you might not feel comfortable.

Oooh! Ear infection is a great one, thanks! 👍
I've actually had a cold this week so that would be very believable and would mean I could still do the main pool without any questions asked, as my head would be above water.
Yeah wasn't sure on the hot tub rules.

Ear Infections are great - also can make you a bit dizzy so no hot tubs

DappledThings · 27/11/2025 09:18

Children you can just say you don't feel well enough. Your mum I would just tell.

FunnyOrca · 27/11/2025 09:20

I used to work at a spa (advice may have changed since 2011) and the hot tub was only restricted in the first trimester.
