Midwife did swab wrong!?

This may sound hard to believe but I went to triage yesterday as I thought my waters had gone, the midwife did a swab test to check. However she put the swab up my urethra! It was incredibly painful but she didn't stop, at the time it felt like the swab was in the wrong place & she actually didn't look when placing it as she didn't use a speculum.

Afterwards, I was bleeding when I went for a wee and there was a pinching pain. I do not have a UTI as this was tested when I went in & was negative, I also had none of these symptoms before she did the swab. The bleeding has stopped today and the pain seems to be going but obviously as you can imagine this caused unnecessary stress and worry for me being 38 weeks pregnant! I have rung and let them know of what happened and they said they will follow up with the midwife and get an understanding but I highly doubt she will admit what she did or whether she even realised because she didn't look!

Very strange! Do you need to have it done again properly to check if your waters have gone?

Well you know your body and where something was shoved! I’d complain if you want to and ask for a new midwife to do another swab.
