Honestly I’m hearing so many mixed messages in this and very confused!

ive never really been a back sleeper but somehow pregnant me always wants to sleep on my back! I have pregnancy pillows and always fall asleep on my side but last night I woke up at 3am flight on my back and was so worried I couldn’t get back to sleep again. I’m 30 weeks.

I have felt some good moves now so feel reassured (but knackered!).

I’ve read a few times that if you or baby were in any danger your body would automatically wake you up which has made me feel better but when I asked my midwife about this she seemed to think this was nonsense.

Whats everyone’s thoughts?🫣

I don't think you can help turning onto your back but I personally did everything I could to prevent it - just in case.

Fortunately/unfortunately (depending on how you look at it) for me I ended up with PGP and sciatica so I didn't sleep much anyway come my third trimester.

Ultimately I would listen to the midwife the most. Try not to worry though, you've had movement. I know you said you have a pregnancy pillow, are you using it behind you?

I read that whatever position you fall asleep in, you spent most time in, so if go to sleep on your side but you wake up on your back not to worry, just turn onto your side then

I used to roll a toll or a long pillow up against my back so that if I rolled onto by back I would wake up. Otherwise I had a U shaped pregnancy pillow so one side was always guarding my back
