6 + 1 weeks pregnant terrified

Me and my partner had been trying for 18 months, in May we had a chemical pregnancy. On 3rd November just 9 days before starting IVF I found out we were expecting, I am now 6 weeks + 1 day pregnant. Next Sunday at 7 + 5 days we have a reassurance scan booked at window to the womb but I am so anxious about it. I don’t have any strong symptoms of pregnancy, just some insomnia, sore nipples, lots of CM and being very hungry. I am so worried that they will tell me that everything is not ok.

Please help to clam my nerves, any success stories of not having many symptoms?

I didn't have any early symptoms during either pregnancy, certainly not at 6 weeks. I remember mentioning it on the phone as I was booking the reassurance scans. By the time those came round (8-10 weeks), I had plenty of symptoms! Good luck xx

mashandgravy · 19/11/2025 12:44

Congratulations on your pregnancy. It's still very early to be experiencing strong symptoms. Try to relax.

WonderingAboutBabies · 19/11/2025 12:44

You are ONLY 6 weeks pregnant. Your body is just entering pregnancy and it will take another couple of weeks before symptoms start to kick in properly! There is nothing people can say that will reassure you, the first trimester is scary and there are always 'what if's'.

Let yourself worry a bit, then give yourself a break from it. Try and lean on others for support and distract yourself with hobbies/work!

Hi OP,
Firstly congratulations 🥳
I was in a similar situation ie falling pregnant naturally before being due to start IVF- the GP who referred me for IVF told me that this is quite common and to not give up trying in the meantime. I thought I wouldn’t be so lucky and this was something that would only happen to someone else.
Anyway I had no symptoms either and not a touch of morning sickness (which I was quite disappointed with lol) I didn’t feel at all pregnant or much different really and I went into my 12 week scan fully convinced I would be told there’s no baby there lol but all was well and I did end up with a beautiful baby (and a second who was conceived very easily) so try not to worry too much (easier said than done I know!)
Hope all goes well for you x

MouseMama · 19/11/2025 12:49

Best of luck, very normal not to feel pregnant for quite a few more weeks so please try to chill out and enjoy.

One thing that helped me was someone pointing out that some people get pregnant very easily…. and then sadly miscarry. I do not get pregnant easily so my body is being selective and when I am pregnant it is likely to be a healthy pregnancy. I am not sure if it’s generally true but for me it was, I had a long time to conceive my first but went on to have three healthy children and no miscarriages other than a chemical pregnancy before my first child.

Hi @Catlady1991 I've just had an early scan measuring 6w3d (all good) and you have more symptoms than me!! I only really have the CM and hunger. I have a 2 year old DS and by 6w with him I was SO nauseous and tired, so I was braced to expect the worst today and it was fine! Some of my friends/family had barely any symptoms in first trimester - and how lovely!

Catlady1991 · 19/11/2025 13:18

Thank you ladies ❤️ definitely feeling more relaxed now. A lot of my social media feed is about blighted ovum’s and MMC so I think that didn’t help

You literally said "I don't have any strong symptoms".... then proceeded to listen 4 symptoms 😂 1st trimester is scary, everyone always has doubts.

Hahaha
What I meant was I’m not stuck with my head down the toilet or in bed all day

Majority of people aren't though realistically.
You're just going to worry yourself if you compare yourself to others. My firstborn 20 months ago I only had a bit of bloating (from medication) and couldn't drink gassy drinks. This time round weeks 5-8 I was V&D majorly, very weak etc. 10 weeks now and I'm fine again.

On my first, lots of people never knew I was pregnant because I had a very small bump. This time round people have already questioned if I'm expecting because I blew up straight away 😂

Pinkandpurple225533 · 19/11/2025 14:37

The second time I had zero symptoms and was also starting to stress, and then bang one morning I woke up nauseous and after that it was daily vomiting for 4 months. You may yet get more symptoms! Best of luck

I think I felt sick once with each pregnancy, don't remember other symptoms either. I have two very healthy sons.

Azurebird · 19/11/2025 17:07

My 3rd pregnancy is had almost no symptoms at all, to the point I'd convinced myself I may be going mad and had imagined the positive test. I felt very un-pregnant. I had a scan at 10 weeks after a non pregnancy related medical emergency. There was flaming two of them in there

vixen996 · 19/11/2025 17:08

I’ve had 4 pregnancies (3 children) and had no symptoms that early on. Wasn’t until I was around 10 weeks that I started to feel extremely tired. Never had sickness with any of them.

surprisebaby12 · 19/11/2025 17:23

Pregnancy is scary! You have plenty of symptoms for this stage.

K12l12r09 · 19/11/2025 18:19

My 4 months of nausea & daily vomiting followed by 5 further months of nausea started from 7 weeks. You still have time 😅

ThatGentleCoralCat · 19/11/2025 18:24

Congratulations OP, I am about a week behind you currently and I'm the same - very little in the way of symptoms so far. Completely understand on the anxiety - I have moments of feeling the same although if I do skip the head down the toilet stage I'll be very grateful for that!

Hello! I have also been worrying constantly, have managed to completely convince myself that I’m not pregnant any more (despite another positive test this morning- I’m 5 + 2 weeks!). One thing I think has helped a bit is I’ve blocked posts that reference miscarriage and infertility from my instagram - it felt like it was all I was seeing! Congratulations and good luck with your scan!!

Steph4ne · 19/11/2025 19:07

I just was a bit tired and had achy boobs. Later on a bit of nausea but that’s the limit to the symptoms for my entire pregnancy!

Don17 · 19/11/2025 20:26

I’ve been lucky enough to not experience loss but I will say with both my pregnancies it was like a switch flipped between the 6-8 week mark I went from no symptoms to setting up camp over a vomit bowl! Scans are always an anxious time but your body sounds like it’s heading in the right direction! :) good luck xxx

Newmum288 · 19/11/2025 20:47

I don’t think I felt remotely pregnant until I was about 20 weeks 🤣 congratulations OP. Deep breaths, positive thoughts, you can do this!

Bellie710 · 19/11/2025 20:55

20 years ago after 2 years of trying I started fertility treatment, we tried everything before moving on to IVF, just before they gave me all the drugs for IVF they had to do a pregnancy test to make sure I wasn't pregnant. The doctor checked the test and said right ok that's negative and said he would be back in a minute with everything I needed. The test was lying on the side and I was pretty sure I could see a faint line. The doctor said its just because it is sitting out that it looks positive but if you want to wait 2 weeks and come back you can, we chose to wait and our DD1 will be 20 in January. Stay as positive as you can, it doesn't always work and we had many disappointments but that one stuck :)

Bellie710 · 19/11/2025 21:03

Sorry forgot the bit where I had no symptoms at all for about 12 weeks!

BekiP · 19/11/2025 21:22

With my first I only had sore nipples and extreme tiredness she was a dream pregnancy and is now 8 years old, my second I had sickness, bleeding at 9 weeks and again at 13 weeks, insomnia, sore nipples, tiredness and he is nearly 3 now and now pregnant again and since I found out I’ve again had minimal symptoms only tiredness and sore nipples - currently 13 weeks.
