12 DPO BFN with late period

I have been trying to conceive for the last 4 months with no luck. This cycle I used ovulation tests every day and caught the peak. My cycles are always 28 days and ovulation was CD 18. Today I’m 12 DPO, AF late for 2 days and got a BFN today (yesterday i thought i saw a faint line but i guess it was an indent). It’s very discouraging but has anyone experienced similar cycle and ended up being pregnant?

I think technically if you ovulated on day 18 then you would need to be 14DPO before your period is late if that makes sense? Luteal phase is usually 14 days after ovulation.
Easy to say but test again in a few days.
I didn't get a bfp until 13/ 14 DPO. Good luck x

That’s where I’m confused at because I have been having exact 28 days cycles for the last one or two years and the only month I tracked my ovulation, my cycle is now supposed to be 32 days. I was thinking maybe my luteal phase is shorter..
Hearing you got the positive at 13/14 DPO gives me hope, thank you <3

Luteal phase is often 14 days but by no means standard and can be anything, normal range about 11-17 days. Most common is 12-14 days.
It is generally a fixed amount of days and doesn’t change.

Variance in cycle length is caused by ovulation changing, not the luteal phase. For example if you usually ovulate day 16, but this month is day 18, your cycle would be 2 days longer.

Mine is 12 days, 28 day cycles.

Best of luck OP!

If it offers any hope, I tested negative from 9dpo through until my period was 4 days late, had a gp appointment on the 5th day of it being late and thought I’d just rule it out again to avoid the gp doing a test, and it had turned positive from that day, so it took 5 days of being late to be positive for me, and I’d always been like clock work with ovulation and period in terms of cycle 🖤
