Period pains at 33 weeks

I have been having quite strong period pains for the past 2 nights. No BH though. Could they be some sort of contractions? It's my second pregnancy and I didn't have this last time. What do you think?

What do you mean by period pains? Strong lower back ache? Could be the baby pressing his back on yours, but if it gs on much longer I would mention it to Dr or MW for opinion or advice. Hope it eases soon, have you any other early labour type symptoms with the pains?

Thanks. The pain is more like cramps in my uterus. No other symptoms. It was pretty sore last night but then I don't really have them during the day.

I have the same - radiating back/hip pains and tightness in the stomach - MW says its a nasty case of braxton hicks which can be painful in second pregnancies.

However if it lasts more than an hour you are supposed to go in for monitoring. Babies born at this gestation have very good outcomes but they are further improved if you have steroids 24 hours before you deliver so it's worth checking out if you are unsure.

Yip. Am 36 weeks but had it a few weeks ago for over an hour one night - period pains regularly coming and going. Poohed my pants. Midwife said rest (and hope!) Baby didn't come. Very likely to be normal braxton but have a think if you've done too much recently!

Oh - and this is my 2nd pregnancy and I didn't have it last time. More common in not-first pregnancies.

Cool. I did overdo it a bit this week. Must rest. Thanks!

agree with Yorky.

Also it could be a urinary tract infection - these can cause this sort of pain but symptoms of UTIs are not always clear during pregnancy.
