Normal morning sickness?

Hello :)

I’m around 7 weeks pregnant with my rainbow baby.
at about 5w5d the nausea started and as soon as hit the 6w mark, I’ve been vomiting ca 3-6 times per day, can’t eat or drink and have lost 1.8kg and constantly feel weak, lightheaded and just horrific. I cry most days because I can’t handle it but my MIL says this is just normal?!
is this normal morning sickness or does anyone else have any experiences like this?
i have my first docs apt tomorrow but have to work before and am already dreading it! Thank you🤍

Not normal. Tell them how bad it is, you probably need anti-sickness meds. And don’t let them fob you off. I had a GP on the phone tell me it was “just morning sickness”. I collapsed later that day and was admitted to hospital with HG.

So sorry you experienced this! My doctor is incredible and so I hope she will be pretty open and not fob me off, also taking my husband with me as I have zero energy and can barely talk and he’s under strict instruction to advocate for me.
thanks for the validation, it doesn’t feel normal at all, I’ve been bedridden all week and still sleeping 8-9 hrs per night plus naps in the day but any sort of movement sets it off and makes me sick.
how are you now? Hope you’re out of the worst of it?!x

I’m also 7 weeks and my god the nausea is horrific 😢 I didn’t have this at all with my first! I’ve only been sick a handful of times but this is totally debilitating so I’m going to contact the doctor first thing in the morning and see if there’s any medication they can give me. Obviously no help with this post but plenty of sympathy and solidarity!

Ah god sorry you’re going through it as well! Debilitating is the completely right word! Hope your doc is able to help and you’re feeling better soon! We’re not alone ❤️‍🩹

Not normal at all! I'm not a doctor but I am certain you have hyperemesis gravidarum. Speak to your GP and insist on an anti sickness medication as you cannot keep any food or liquids down and you will get dehydrated and need to to go hospital for a drip if you don't start tolerating some food and fluids. I have had it twice but never needed hospital admission as the meds did enough to keep me at home. Good luck!

Thank you!
I had my docs apt on Monday and she referred me straight to the hospital and I’ve been here 4 days now on anti-emetics and fluids. Praying I can be discharged today with tablet versions of the drugs and then get back to a little bit of normalcy! X

No problem. Sounds like your GP was spot on that's great news. I am currently just about surviving on meds at home. Hopefully you can be! I am currently on two ani-emetics at home and haven't needed hospital so hopefully you are home and recovered now x

How are you getting on?
i had a week at home after hospital but even with meds was struggling to eat and drink so I got sent back to hospital yesterday 🫠 here on a drip since yesterday but as not as severe as it was prior to the first round of IVs where they kept my for 5 days, I’m hoping I can go home tomorrow and just up my dosage of anti-emetics at home 🤞🏻
hope you’re feeling alright and the meds are making life a bit easier for you 🤍

Hope the sickness eases soon op! Mine has just kicked in which is how I knew I was pregnant. I had HG with all 3 of my previous pregnancies and it was hell but the tables really helped. Hope you feel better!

Thank you! I’m on my 2nd hospital stay now but hoping to go home tomorrow and find a way to manage it better at home so I don’t have to come back.
so sorry to hear your symptoms have started - hope you get support and wish you an otherwise lovely pregnancy!! 🤍

Haha initially yes! I haven’t spoken to her since the HG diagnosis but she knows I’ve been hospitalised twice now so I’m hoping she will take it back 😅
