Estimated baby weights and growth scans

Hi all,

I been having growth scans since 28 weeks and baby is consistently on the 88%lie so they’re not worried but at my 36 week scan it was estimated at 7lb3!
I think that’s really big considering I’ve got three weeks left to go (C-section)

I know these scans aren’t necessarily that accurate in majority of cases but what was everyone else and what was the baby at birth?

This is second pregnancy (first was micro prem so can’t compare) and although I’ve not got GD I’ve put a lot of weight on in the past 10 weeks ish despite not going overboard on food alongside mild polyhydramnios

Thanks :)

I’ve had this throughout my pregnancy too. Currently 38 weeks and have been sent for a growth scan since 28 weeks every time I’ve seen my midwife. She measures her small on her chart but on the scans she’s between the 75th and 90th centile. I’m sure at my 34 week scan her EFW was 6lb 😮which I thought was big for that gestation although no one has said anything to me about it.

I have also tried not to worry about it. They get babies weights wrong all the time, nothing is accurate even on scans.
I am also having a c section and whilst I’m so anxious about it next week, I guess that’s why I haven’t thought too much about baby’s size.

There's a ~1lb error on growth scans. I was induced at 37 weeks, my son was predicted to be high 5lb- low 6lb at this gestation based on growth scans at 28 and 34 weeks and he was 6lb12 at 37+1

Also there's variability in physical size even for the same weight. My son was only 1oz smaller than my daughter born at 38+6 although they were theoretically the same size my son was notably smaller. We had to drop down to size 0 nappies as he had a teeny tiny bottom and we had leaks in size 1. He was about 6 weeks old before he fitted into the clothes my daughter left hospital in!
