Heavy bleeding but still BFP??

Hi everyone

Looking for some insight...

I tested positive on an early clear blue digital 3 days ago after getting faint pink lines on boots early tests.

Yesterday I started cramping and bleeding to the point where it's now as heavy as a period. I called EPU and they said sometimes implantation can be heavy but this really does feel like a period. Only tests I have are the clear and simple tests from home bargains and I done a few yesterday and one just now and they still have quite solid pink lines.

I thought I was experiencing a loss but these tests are making me unsure and I wondered how reliable they are. I'm also aware if it is a loss, it may be left over HCG.

Just wondered if anyone else had experienced this. I've attached a photo..
Line is 100% pink in person

Heavy bleeding but still BFP??

I bled heavily for 5 weeks and tested very strong positive throughout. I only tested negative once the bleeding finally stopped.
That said, plenty of women bleed and go on to have perfectly healthy pregnancies. Unless they do 2 separate HCG blood tests to see if it’s rising you have no way of knowing. The not knowing is so hard, isn’t it?
I hope it all works out okay Flowers

It can be true that some people have heavier implantation bleeding than others

If you want my honest truth, if you tested three days ago your line is still quite faint and whilst that might not mean much on its own, coupled with the heavy period bleeding I would assume you are going through a chemical pregnancy x

Saladkart · 13/11/2025 16:58

Can you try and get a 48 hour hcg test from GP? That might be clearer for you. I would try and hold out a little bit of hope.

MummyV2021 · 13/11/2025 17:07

Really sorry this is happening @sugardust90 do you know how many DPO you are or how many weeks you would be? The line is definitely there but quite faint - is it darker or fainter than a few days ago?

I've had 3 chemical pregnancies, 1 early MC and an MMC across my 2 TTC journeys (currently pregnant with baby #2) and when I've had a chemical, it's always been faint positives for a few days that might start getting darker but then I'll start bleeding and it has sometimes taken up to a week for my tests to be completely negative (obviously the further along I've been the longer it's taken, but even when I've only been a few days late it can take a little while).

I really hope this isn't what you're experiencing but all I can suggest is try not to test constantly as it won't change that quickly. Maybe re-test in a few days and if it's darker, great, if it's not then it might be similar to my previous experiences sorry.

Sending love and positive vibes for you.

I would say a chemical pregnancy due to the heavy bleeding and how faint the line is x

Preggemjun26 · 13/11/2025 17:31

I would try and get a scan to be on save side as I had very postive lines and had bleeding and mines not ended in a miscarriage. Im.not trying put a bad outcome as I know people get bleeding but I don't see how epdu can say over the phone. Sorry I havent had a good outcome from.the hospital please try and get a scan x

sugardust90 · 13/11/2025 18:35

It looks faint in the photo but it's actually very pink!! Which is stressing me out even more lol. Because I don't know what's happening. But obviously I'm more accepting the fact it may be a loss. I believe I'm around 4 weeks going by my last period...

Sorry for the short reply I'm at work xx

I had a chemical last year but never had pink lines showing during my bleeding. I'm wondering if they're pink evap lines. Because I can't be bleeding like this like a normal period and still be pregnant I wouldn't think x

Thank you so much for your kind words! ❤️ And so sorry to hear about your losses.
The line definitely looks darker than yesterday but saying that I didn't look at the test within the timeframe as I was so busy at work. But the line is 100% pink and doesn't look like an indent at all but it's a clear & simple test from home bargains and I don't know if they have a rep for evaps..does definitely seem darker though. I think I'll hold off for a few days and see. I am bleeding pretty heavily so I'd probably say it's bad news but I can only try hold out some hope x

EPU said they wouldn't scan me as it's too early 😕 she just said to test again in a weeks time and see what happens. They were pretty useless tbh and my GP wouldn't even see me they just directed me to call my local EPU.

Had this a couple of times, it was negative a few days later once the period was ending.
Assume it to be a loss this time but test again in 4 or 5 days just to be sure of it.
Take care of yourself, wishing you the best.

Thank you so much. I am basically preparing myself for it to be bad news. I know it deep down already but just holding that last little bit of hope! I've had a chemical last year but my lines were never this strong at this stage so I just wondered if it was a case of unexplained heavy bleeding but everything would be fine like I've read before. But again that's me just trying to stay positive. I appreciate your words thank you 💕

@sugardust90 This could have been my post two weeks ago! Literally just posted today because it’s almost two weeks since I stopped bleeding and my lines are as dark as they can be. I have an early ultrasound and blood test booked next week. I know it’s hard but be patient and test after the bleeding stops. I am still unsure if I am going through an early loss or not. Take it easy and try to distract yourself with something you like (I say while obsessively checking my own post and looking for posts similar to mine). Let us know how it goes! 🙏🏼

Thank you so much and I really hope everything is great for you going forward. I tested today and unfortunately couldn't see a line. I called EPU and she said to test again in a weeks time but I think I need to face upto the fact that it's a loss. I don't feel like I need to even test next week because I'd have a line if I was positive. Still currently bleeding aswell...
I'll see what happens but I wish you all the luck in the world x

To me if you're getting a really strong line it sounds like it would be fine! But I'm sending you loads of best wishes and I hope it all works out for you 💞 and thank you too x
