Gallstones and/or Kidney stones in pregnancy!

Just looking for experiences of either of these in pregnancy. I have gallstones and have been told I potentially have kidney stones as well. And just worried about what I’ve got to deal with! I’m 20 weeks atm and just concerned about attacks as I get larger 😩

Hi

So sorry you are struggling with this!

I don't have much advice but lots of sympathy because I also struggle with an unhappy gallbladder while pregnant. It's painful after every meal and often feels uncomfortable and tingly even when I haven't eaten in a while. I had the same during my first pregnancy and but they couldn't find any gallstones so I just had to live with it.

In the case of gallstones, my understanding is that they have to weigh up the risk of removing the gallbladder with the risk of leaving it, so if it gets severe enough they'll rather operate and remove your gallbladder. Not sure about the kidney stones part. I think your second trimester is the optimal time for this since the uterus is not yet that high. Perhaps it's worth asking about this, since you might not have the option all the way through your pregnancy.

Good luck!
