Sorry for the moan but I’m really struggling with the start of labour. I’ve been having regular painful contractions for around 30 hours now and I’m still only just over 1cm dilated! Very little change from how my cervix was a couple of weeks ago. Contractions have been around 1.5 mins every 3 mins and codine/morphine isn’t helping with the pain. I’m set to have another night of no sleep as there is no way I can sleep through the pain and I’m really starting to panic about how I’m going to cope with the rest of labour.

Has anyone else had a similar start to labour? I’m praying that the intense contractions now mean that I’ll suddenly dilate really quickly, but who knows. I’m losing faith in my body!

Are you in hospital? Get an epidural which will let you rest. Alternatively is a section an option?

I sympathize.....both my labours were 6 hours start to finish, short and brutal sweet, and I couldn't have lasted as long as you are doing

How are you getting on? Hopefully things have progressed a lot more. Please update if you have had your baby 💐

Thanks both! My waters broke the next morning but they wouldn’t give me an epidural/gas and air because I was only 2cm dilated. Progressed to 9cm a few hours after getting to the hospital and had a very quick delivery in the end. Phewf!!
