For those who chose not to find out what gender their baby was-did you have a feeling about what it was, and were you right?

With both of mine, I had no idea through the pregnancy-but by about 7.5months I was totally convinced I was having a girl and with the second a boy. Which is what I got!

Im not spiritual or believe in old wives tales or anything like that. Logically I had a 50/50 chance each time of course but the certainty came out of nowhere both times and was so strong, I just wondered if anyone else had something similar?

For both previous pregnancies I was sure of the sex, even had dreams, I was wrong both times.

Gender disappointment was uncomfortable, especially considering how much we love both kids.

This time round, we've opted to not find out the sex. When they arrive we'll just be absorbed into loving and taking care of them. There'll be limited time to dwell on whether they're a boy or girl.

LaTable · 08/11/2025 14:20

For my first I was certain she was a boy. She was infact not (didn't find out until birth)
2nd I just knew, didn't even bother really looking for anything boy related (clothes or names) again didn't find out until birth, she was a girl as suspected
3rd I had a feeling as much as I hoped for her to be a boy. We found out at 20weeks for her so we could prep clothes and names

3awesomestars · 08/11/2025 18:10

First I found out at 20 weeks was a girl, second didn’t want to know - did not have a clue at all - was a boy. Third, was convinced was a boy as had same craving for fresh orange juice as with second - found out at 20 week scan and was a boy.

Strokethefurrywall · 08/11/2025 18:28

First was convinced was a boy and I was correct (didn’t find out until the birth); second I was convinced it was a girl because my pregnancy was so different. Found out sex at 22 weeks, another boy.
If I were to ever have a third I wouldn’t find out again.

hereismydog · 08/11/2025 18:30

I just knew my DS was a boy! First and only child and we didn’t want to find out until birth. DP was convinced we were having a girl, but my heart just knew there was a little boy in there. 🥰

tarheelbaby · 08/11/2025 18:47

I wasn't sure of the sex - both times, for different reasons, I thought the baby would be a boy and I was wrong both times. First time around, I realised that all DH's family was men with wives so I was expecting a boy. Second time, it was so different from the first that I was sure it would be a boy ... WRONG again :)

But ... I did think that DC1 would be a redhead and she's a beautiful golden red strawberry blonde and when pregnant with DC2, I always pictured that child as dark - dark hair, dark eyes and she is.
And when the midwife calculated my due date for DC1, mentally, I heard a voice say, 'Right, that'll be the 15th then' and months later, I duly went into labour on the 15th.

MyAcornWood · 08/11/2025 18:49

I did with my first. I just could not have pictured having a girl, I just KNEW he was a boy, I couldn’t possibly explain it. Second time around, girl this time, I flip-flopped but would’ve said girl if forced to choose. Nothing like the same as the first time though.

ChicNewt · 08/11/2025 18:50

I was so sure my first was a boy that's actually why I wanted to know at the 20 week scan, I was in fact correct! I felt so sure that I didn't want to have such a set picture in my mind then have to alter! Xx

Mumofsoontobe3 · 08/11/2025 18:50

Have 3 kids of the same sex. First 2 times - absolutely wrong. Third time I just knew. I was absolutely certain from about 10 weeks, scan confirmed it at 16 weeks and I was utterly delighted despite others feeling disappointed for me that I had 3 of the same sex.

pambeesleyhalpert · 08/11/2025 18:55

First time I had zero inkling. Second time I was completely and utterly convinced I was having a boy mostly because both my pregnancies were completely different! But I had two girls!!

pambeesleyhalpert · 08/11/2025 18:55

i found out at the birth both times and I thought I’d mis heard that it was a girl

SheSpeaks · 08/11/2025 18:57

I knew for sure with all of mine and I was always right.

I would have loved to have a surprise at birth.
Having the sexes confirmed was underwhelming at best and upsetting at worst.

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 08/11/2025 19:02

I was sure I was carrying a girl right from the beginning. I didn’t even have a boys name picked out. I was right. I had a girl.

Dolamroth · 08/11/2025 19:04

Both times was convinced it was a boy. Both times I was wrong!

ThePoliteLion · 08/11/2025 19:10

I was certain that baby 1 would be a girl. Didn’t find out in advance. She was.
i had no inkling about baby 2. Again, found out at birth. DD2.

Justtobenosey · 08/11/2025 20:23

Not gender but with my first I knew I was pregnant, without a doubt no signs first month of trying and I knew with every inch of me significantly earlier than a missed period.

but my second i got a little shock and was nearly finished my first trimester before I knew.

TooTiredMum2 · 08/11/2025 20:25

I knew it. But I’m a firm believer of the theory boy = less morning sickness and therefore I knew.

Btowngirl · 08/11/2025 20:33

i thought boy all the way through until one day near the end, I just woke up & was like ‘I think this is a girl you know’ and she was a girl!

I ‘knew’ I was pregnant so many times and was wrong every time. Both times that I was I had no idea at all.

This is how it felt for me-a last minute conviction that seemingly came from nowhere

Yes - two out of two were as I believed. Just knew. Talked to them all the time.

Yeah it was a complete u turn that surprised all my family as I’d been quite definitive about baby being a boy. In fact they thought we had secretly had a gender scan 🤣

DramaAlpaca · 08/11/2025 20:42

With all three of mine, I just knew I was pregnant several days before I missed a period and could test (early testing wasn't available then).

However, I guessed the sex wrong all three times Confused

Doone22 · 09/11/2025 15:18

I felt quite strongly from the off that I would have a boy. I did. My mum was convinced I would have a girl so only bought girls clothes

theprincessthepea · 10/11/2025 20:14

The first time I was sure a girl - she was a girl. Second time I was sure a girl, he was a boy haha.

I think my mind goes to wanting a girl - but I love having a boy now!
