Colour Doppler used at 6 week scan-safe?

I had a scan at 6 weeks to confirm viability of my pregnancy so I could be prescribed progesterone. I’ve since read that the colour Doppler should be avoided in the first trimester as the higher mode increases the potential of heating when the baby is at such a delicate stage. The sonographer definitely used the colour doppler and I can’t help but worry now that it’s caused damage. In my last pregnancy I had a scan at the same stage which also used colour doppler and we found out a few weeks later than the heartbeat stopped the same day as the scan. I’ve been spiralling and would just love to hear some reassurance. Thanks so much

I empathise with the lasting trauma from your previous pregnancy. Sometimes we identify correlation and determine causations.

Based on your last pregnancy, there would be a concern that you are at a higher risk. Using the colour doppler to assess placental blood flow was your health technician being thorough and making sure everything looks okay.

The risks of the doppler use are very minimal and almost certainly not going to cause any harm.

Best of luck x
