HCG only 22 at 14dpo- Dr says wait a week to retest???

Hi All,

I am stressing! My hcg was only 22 at 14dpo. 4 weeks 5 days however Dr recons to wait a week to retest? This sounds crazy to me! Why wait a week?

They should be restesting HCG 48 hours later not a week. 22 does sound pretty low to be honest but even then a number by itself doesn’t really tell you anything other than you are currently pregnant. The fact it’s pretty low could indicate slow rising HCG and a non viable pregnancy. But without the 48 hours retest to compare it to you can’t know. It could also just be a late ovulation/implantation and it doubles nicely in 48-72 hours and all is fine. There really isn’t any way to know unfortunately. Unless you go for a private blood test?

Waiting another week does sound reasonable to me.

Yeah that’s exactly what I thought, it’s only going to stress me out waiting a week 😭 I just have to assume I implanted late I even asked for one to be done 48hrs later and Dr said no there’s no point she doesn’t believe it’s ectopic or anything and it’ll play its course anyway no matter which way it goes.

I mean that is technically true I guess but still it would have been better for you to have had it repeated. But I guess all you can do is wait now and keep fingers crossed!

My tests are getting lighter, I’d be 5 weeks today based off LMP im 90% sure I’m going to lose this baby 😭

Ended in a chemical pregnancy we believe. Currently in hospital not well, hcg was 22 on Thursday, Saturday / today it was 21….. need to be retested in 48hrs to check its dropping as they are worried about etopic
