when oh when will I stop puking???

Im 22 weeks. Been feeling sick all week, just puked up so much stomach I now have a sore throat . Just feeling sorry for myself really.

Meant stomach acid, but it felt like my stomach was coming up

Hi Rivska I'm 23 weeks and still being sick, nowhere near as bad as the 1st trimester. Not every day but 2-3 times a week it is totally related to me being tired and or/stressed, are you feeling very tired? I was the same with my 1st pregnancy, some people just have a tendency to be more sick than others I'm afraid. I actually find it is a good indicator for me to take more rest or eat etc

I vomited from 6 weeks to 34 weeks then again from 40 - 41+3. It was awful so I can truely sypathise. The only thing that made me feel better was Ginger Beer from Boots, it's in there Shapers section and it worked wonders.

hedgepig, I think you're right about the tired/stressed/hungry thing, but at the moment the sight of food makes me feel worse, especially if I have to cook it.

Sushipaws, fizzy drinks make me worse, but I'm knocking back the ginger and lemon tea...

I agree about the tired/stressed/hungry thing too. On dd I was still throwing up every morning after I got up right up til the day she was born but compared with the first 20+ weeks of constant throwing up it didn't seem so bad. This time round I was really bad from 5-13 weeks and then it suddenly eased off. I am almost 18 weeks now and find I only throw up if I have allowed myself to get too hungry or tired. I find eating smaller amounts every 2 - 2.5 hours helps.
I'm also drinking the ginger and lemon tea and also find fennell tea settles my stomach too.

roskva Are you being monitored for dehydration and ketones? If you find you are keeping nothing down maybe you need a couple of days on a drip to sort you out. It definitely helped me on dd.

No, I'm not being checked for anything at the moment. But I get a couple of good days when I'm virtually fine, followed by 2 or 3 really bad days, but mainly I'm just queasy rather than actually sick. I've learnt the hard way to avoid some things like tea. The hardest is having a 22 month old tornado whizzing round - dd is just too little to understand that sometimes I just have to lie down.

I'm 18+ weeks and still being sick. I've had two previous Hyperemsesis pregnancies, but this time I'm just being very sick but can eat.

Rest- I am worse the day after a busy day, so it seems like I feel well one day and rubbish the next, I think it's because I'm overdoing it on the days I feel good.

Orange juice lollies can help. sipping fluids of some sort pretty much constantly and taking your time in the morning if you can.

Sorry you're feeling yuck, too, pinky. Food usually stays down - I'm usually sick on an empty stomach, first thing in the morning, or if I get too hungry before making lunch/tea, but I just don't enjoy eating at the moment. We're going on holiday on Weds,and I'm dreading it.

Hi- still sick on and off and now 26 weeks. Some women (like us) are unlucky and can get sickness on and off throughout pregnancy. I find taking my mind of stuff- trating myself to a magazine or something can help...

Have you tried eating bananas in small amoutns throughout the day? They are very high in potassium which some people think ms sufferers are lacking.....

What about lemonade ice lollies...would sooth your throat?

Can you ask your DH to bring you something to eat before you get out of bed- or take something to bed with you- for the morning, like a banana or a piece of toast? It's the best way I've found of getting up in the morning without puking.

I usually start the day with milk or yoghurt - I don't have to chew it, and it seems to put enough in my stomach to keep my going until I've got dd up. Tried keeping biscuits by the bed: got woken up in the night by the dog tucking into them (note to self, put them on the bookshelf next time )

Im 15 weeks and although the hyperemesis has eased, the food aversions havent. I lost 2 stone from weeks 5 - 12 and i weighed myself this morning and have only put 1LB back on! Considering im one of these people that looks at a cake and i wack on some lbs, its crazy! The food aversions havent gone yet, nor has the nausea but its more copeable than it was, at least i have a small amount of food in my belly!

I agree with the ice lollies, thats how i kept my fluid intake up.

Roskva - I'm in the same boat at 32 weeks. I've found that I can keep down cheese oatcakes, icecream and tea.

But I've also found it's vital to eat immediately on waking and before you feel hungry.

Still being sick at least three times a day though

Repeat the mantra 'only healthy pregnancies cause sickness, only healthy pregnancies cause sickness, only healthy pregnancies cause sickness.'

I like the mantra..........its hard to keep that going when you're head is down a loo though isnt it?! lol.

It's even less funny when your toddler is peering over your shoulder as you stare down the loo, and then goes round the house gleefully making gagging noises for the next half hour...

Actually, I'm feeling bad about whingeing, when some of you ladies are doing worse than me. I'm finding that at lunch time I can mostly cook and eat food without it coming back, so I'm trying to make sure there are plenty of 'easy' things in the fridge for tea, so dh can feed dd and I can go and hide.

Wish me luck for tomorrow - we've got a 3 hour car journey, then the airport and flight on Weds. I'm dreading it.

Roskva - I've co-opted the plastic step up stool as an impromptu vomit bucket in extremis. DD has yet to forgive me

Hi. Bad news is I was very sick all the way through my first pregnancy. Good news is I am 14 weeks into my second pregnancy and have stopped being sick and have all but stopped feeling sick. Really hope things get better for you soon. Ice lollies for liquid, ice cream for calories are the only things I can recommend, and don't worry a damn about how healthily you're eating, the baby just leeches the goodness out of your very bones.

try not to listen to much to those warning from women who know someone or had it for 9mnths, it don't help!!!just rest lots, look after yourself
