C section and breastfeeding

I’ve had 2 kids and having another in 3 weeks time.

I should know this, but I can’t remember..

I’m having a C section 6 days early. I’m going to attempt to breastfeed. I assume my milk won’t be ready since it’s so early? Am I meant to do anything to make sure my milk is in ready for the c section date or do you just put baby on the boob and eventually the milk will come in?

Ds was 5 weeks early when I had an emcs. He bf fine at the end of the first day. Skin to skin.
And well done!

Milk came in as normal on day 2-3 so earlier than average (but normal for me). Also had an over supply

Your milk comes in around three days after your baby is born, although this can be slightly delayed for c sections. Until then it's colostrum which is ready several weeks in advance, so shouldn't be an issue. Just lots of skin to skin and making sure you actually sit down and take the time (it's tricky with older kids!).
