Hi,
Ive been told I’m just under high range of too much fluid. My GD test came back fine.

has anyone had this and everything has been fine?

im worried that there could potentially be something wrong with the baby

Me with all of my children, they were all larger than average for gestational age and I was induced at just over 38 weeks.
i completely spiralled when it was first mentioned to me in my first pregnancy, but everything tuned out fine with them x

I had a scan last week at 29 weeks and they said baby is already weighing 3lb 8. I’m fully prepared to be going early and 90% sure it will be a csection too. I’m trying to not over think it too much because it’s been a stressful pregnancy from the off due to high risk and various factors.

I had severe polyhydramios with my eldest son. It wasn't discovered until I was in labour, he was a big baby (9lbs 2oz) at 40+4 but I gave birth naturally and he was perfectly healthy. Try not to worry, I'm sure all is fine x

Antihistamine62 · 03/11/2025 22:19

I think if memory serves me well that at 34 weeks with my first it was an estimated weight of 7lbs… they rescanned at 36 and the growth continued, I gave birth to a 9lb 2er at 39+1. Please try and not stress too much xx

Antihistamine62 · 03/11/2025 22:19

Sorry that should say 38+1

I had a 9lb4 baby and was told I had extra fluid. Was being closely monitored anyway due to other issues. It turned out (discovered during labour) to be a whole empty sack of fluid. Baby was absolutely fine.

Yep, sent measurements off the chart. I think it was a scan at 34 or 37 weeks that confirmed it. Birth weight was estimated at 9lbs 6oz and she was 9lbs 1oz born at 39+3 by planned c section (for other reasons). Midwife doing my pre op did say that she agreed elective c section choice as the excess fluid would've made it even harder for baby to move down/labour to have progressed naturally. They did say it was quite a gush during the c section!

I had this in my 2nd pregnancy. They also tested me for GD despite being a very healthy BMI and not having any symptoms.

Anyway, everything was absolutely fine

So your measure is still in normal range? Just at the higher end of the range? Super common to have this, with no consequence at all OP. Even with measures that are mildly elevated above range, >>90% completely normal. Easier said than done but try not to worry :)

Yes, me!

My bump was enormous, but my baby is now 11, gorgeous and very healthy.

My waters broke in a Costa coffee and I still have flashbacks of the wave of pink fluid heading towards a woman's handbag on the floor next to us. It was biblical.

All the best for your pregnancy OP.

tellmesomethingtrue · 04/11/2025 00:59

I had this. My baby was absolutely fine. When my waters broke though, it was like Niagara falls though - for 20mins!!!

annlee3817 · 04/11/2025 20:53

I had this, no GD, baby measuring big, predicted to be 9lbs plus and she was born at 39+5 weighing 7lbs 10oz, all fine

hiredandsqueak · 04/11/2025 21:47

I had this and it turned out I had a double amniotic sac. When my waters went it was spectacular.
