Am I leaking amniotic fluid? Only 20 weeks pregnant

So on Saturday I noticed slight leaking, yellow colour, watery, so I thought this was urine. It has been on and off since then but today I noticed it doesn’t smell like urine. Slightly sweet smell which Google says indicates amniotic fluid. Now I’m really worried as obviously it’s far too early for this! I have no childcare today so will have to wait until tomorrow to get seen.
Just wondering if anyone else has had this? And how did things turn out? Just freaking out a bit as I can’t imagine this being good and baby surviving if I’m leaking fluid at this stage (21 weeks tomorrow).
Also would you contact the GP or MAU?

Hi @IsItMe24 .
I would contact my GP and explain situation and see if you could get an appointment. Are you able to get any of the liquid in a little clean pot? Or pop into surgery for a sample pot today? Just in case this helps speed up the process and they can do some kind of test on the liquid? It could be urine or watery discharge. Try not to worry xxx

Put a pad in to collect it and contact your midwife.

Thank you.
I’m hoping it’s discharge. Definitely doesn’t seem like urine though. And it happens even when I’m lying down or have just been to the toilet so shouldn’t think urine leaking would be that bad?
Not sure I can collect it as I don’t know when it’s going to happen. I have been wearing pads anyway though because of it

You have to go to the maternity unit where they will swab you and test for waters. That’s the only way to know. I had mine checked a couple of times with my first pregnancy before I realised that it was just really watery discharge.

Are you having any other symptoms like Braxton Hicks? To be honest my hospital were useless when this happened to me and didn't even test for it, but I was bleeding aswell. Keep an eye out for any blood or tightenings as these could be signs of labour but please definitely push them to test to see if it is your waters, definitely best to be safe than sorry x

Thank you. I will ring MAU first thing. No other symptoms though really. But I had a slow leak with my first child that went on for 3 days. It feels similar. That was at 39 weeks though!

Late in my second pregnancy I thought I was slow leaking waters but they tested it in maternity triage (with the pads that test urine vs amniotic) and they concluded it was just very thin watery discharge. It was often after I passed urine and stood up some of it would trickle out so it was really confusing. It went on for about 2 weeks til waters broke, when they broke it was a definite full bag so it definitely wasn't amniotic leak. As you're so early on I think I'd get checked if you can.

Definitely get checked hope alls well x

I was high risk for PPROM and preterm labour and bought some pads from Amazon called Amniocheck. They turn blue if they come into contact with animatic fluid. I can vouch for them because they confirmed my waters were leaking at 32+6 and my baby arrived two days later. I lost my previous baby at 19+3, but not to PPROM.

I hope all is well.

I actually saw them on Amazon but they didn’t have good reviews so I didn’t buy them. But maybe worth another look then if they worked for you.
I went to MAU and they just examined my cervix, said there is fluid there but my cervix is closed so they didn’t seem too concerned. I thought they would test the fluid or something but they didn’t. But I’m hoping they know what they’re doing. I’ve got an appointment next week with my consultant anyway so I will also raise it then
