Hi I’m looking for some positive stories ❤️ I have 3 children already with my ex husband. DD I have when I was 21 and twins DD and DS I had when I was 29. I’m now with a new partner who is younger than me and has no children. We made the decision to try for a baby and I had my coil removed in June. I fell pregnant almost immediately in July on my first cycle but unfortunately was a chemical pregnancy and no luck since. We are on month 5 now of trying and I know in theory it’s not long, but with my age, I’m losing hope fast.

Anyone TTC at this ripe old age and if so how long did it take you to get pregnant?

@Wingingitlife How old are you now?

Have you considered having a fertility MOT?

EmPeEf · 03/11/2025 17:03

Don’t lose hope. Just like you I’m with a new partner, two existing much older DC. We’re both 40.
I had my coil out in April and fell pregnant in May. That ended in a chemical, as did months July and August. September (month 5) was our lucky one and I’m currently 10 weeks. Seen the baby twice on scans due to the previous losses, and I found the heartbeat with an at home doppler today!

Absolutely, definitely don’t give up. You just need to wait for the right egg and sperm. I think my partner giving up energy drinks and scalding baths definitely took effect after a few months.

I was 40, had coil out in May, pregnant in August. Had a fertility MOT before starting to try as wanted to know there was at least a chance before starting.

I conceived my last after 40 but had some help with a drug called letrozole. It boosts ovulation. Got pregnant twice using it. I had my first at nearly 39 and then got pregnant but lost that baby. I saw a gynae and mentioned I was concerned about getting pregnant due to my age and prescribed letrozole - this was 5 years ago when it was still quite new. Maybe worth going to the Gp and asking for a referral? The guidance used to be that a Gp would send you for tests after 6 months of trying after the age of 35. Don’t know what the current guidance is

Hi @Outside9I’m 40 now, only just started ttc this year!

what is a fertility MOT? Is this something I’d go to my GP for or private?
