Hi all,
Went for the 20 week anomaly / anatomy scan today. They found a potential issue with one of little boys kidneys - maybe duplex or dilated but images have been sent to doctor to double check as sonographer couldn’t confirm. Everything else was fine and as expected.
I’ve been reading up about both conditions and have seen in most cases this isn’t life threatening and can even resolve on its own. I’m worried about it but less than I was but still a bit sad that I didn’t get to walk away feeling reassured he was all ok in there.
I’ve also seen this can be a soft indicator that a baby has Down syndrome, which was not mentioned at the scan. I didn’t do the initial testing for down / Edward’s syndrome as it just didn’t feel the right decision for us and I wouldn’t have terminated in the case of DS anyway. However, I am now spiralling and wishing I just knew so I could feel prepared if that was the case. I know the chance is small but annoyed at myself that I am past 20 weeks and outside of the screening window.
Any advice, info, similar experiences anyone can share with me?
