Talk about every stage of pregnancy, from early symptoms to preparing for birth.

Concerned that I'm not horrendously ill yet. Did your symptoms differ between pregnancies?

I'm 6 weeks pregnant today. At this point, in my first pregnancy, I was already throwing up multiple times a day so I'm getting slightly concerned.

I've only had mild nausea and some extreme tiredness so far. I never thought I'd get to the point where I'd be relieved, if I suddenly started vomiting. I have a small amount of hope that maybe I'll just have an easier time this pregnancy. I had hg levels of sickness last time and I was dreading the first trimester again. But now I want it to show up!

Did anyone get extreme sickness in one pregnancy and then not in another?

In my 2023/2024 pregnancy I was never sick. I had the odd nauseous feeling if I didn't eat soon enough but never got sick.

Currently 7 weeks pregnant and its been a rough 2 weeks! The constant nausea, the empty reaching, the dizziness, the vomiting.

2 completely different pregnancies. I've decided this baby is a girl 😂

Nsky62 · 29/10/2025 08:29

I was sick once during pregnancy ( days before early scans) , two pregnancies, was a bug

Justyouwaitandseeagain · 29/10/2025 08:31

I was extremely sick with my first (like you), less so with my second.

winewolfhowls · 29/10/2025 08:32

Totally different, two boys. Different shape bump too. Was convinced the second would be a girl. Never really sick with 1 at all, 2 I was sick as a dog every evening from 8-9pm from about 22-26 weeks, it was grim.

Choconuttolata · 29/10/2025 08:32

Hyperemesis with the two girls, didn't even know I was pregnant with the boy until 3 months in as no symptoms at all!

Pleasegetmeacoffeesotired · 29/10/2025 08:33

Thank you everyone! All helpful to know. My first baby was a girl too so maybe I am having a boy this time!

Yes I had severe hyperemesis with my daughter starting at 6 weeks and resulting in a few hospitalisations. I conceived my son only 6 months after she was born and I had no sickness whatsoever with him!!! The pregnancy was so different and that is how I knew early on he must be a boy and I was right 😂
I am now pregnant with a girl again and can confirm it has been much more like my daughter's pregnancy, at 21 weeks I'm still feeling nauseous 😩

Hollybobs1 · 29/10/2025 12:22

With my first, I was sick and had awful nausea and pgp. I hated being pregnant with her. My 2nd was a breeze, I loved being pregnant. Both were completely different. Obviously if you're that concerned, get checked out by a doctor.

Interestingcomet · 29/10/2025 12:23

I have 8 dc. Hospitalised with 7 of them due to HG and on medication the entire pregnancies. Except for no5, no sickness at all and I’ll never understand why!!

SleepyLion123 · 29/10/2025 12:23

First pregnancy was a girl. I was extremely sick for the first 3mths. Second pregnancy, which was a boy, and I had zero sickness

angelcake20 · 29/10/2025 12:33

Not sick at all with DS, though very tired, threw up every morning with DD.

paddyclampster · 29/10/2025 12:47

I had one of each but had the same symptoms with both! No actual sickness but smells could make me a bit queasy!

Chocolatesanddune · 29/10/2025 12:53

No nausea with ds but mild nausea with dds

FluffyMcFluffFace · 29/10/2025 13:03

I felt dreadful with DS1 right from the start until about 5 months. Wasn't actually sick, but awful nausea, exhausted, hated certain smells. DS2, not a hint of nausea and no issues with smells either. Don't worry!

Lillybobs86 · 29/10/2025 13:17

I am 6 weeks exactly today too :)

I was getting quite worried as no sickness yet, Had a scan today and seen heartbeat and all fine.

I had serve nausea with my son and my daughter so I don't think it makes a different with the sex of the baby as both mine have felt very sick...I just think every pregnancy is different :)

Kwa7 · 29/10/2025 13:34

Yes, I was sick/ nauseous every day in my first pregnancy. I wasn’t sick once with my 2nd and it was a completely different pregnancy.
Both are boys!

Pomegranatemum · 29/10/2025 13:37

Sickness was less severe second time around. Convinced myself DC2 must therefore be a boy. Wrong! Both girls. Every pregnancy is different.
Congratulations on your pregnancy OP.

QuietLifeNoDrama · 29/10/2025 13:42

Yeah I did. No symptoms whatsoever with one and threw up everyday till about 20 weeks with the other.

Anecdotally friends were sicker with girls, but one friend was extremely sick with first boy and although still sick, it wasn’t as severe with the second.
Pregnancies do vary and lots of women seem to have differing levels of nausea. So don’t worry, it doesn’t mean anything is wrong. My sickness didn’t kick in until six weeks or so, so it might just be slightly too early and you may get more nauseous as hormone levels shift.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 29/10/2025 15:45

Careful what you wish for!
About a week after saying “I feel alright this time” at about 6 weeks, i ended up in hospital with hyperemisis; again!

Rounder888 · 29/10/2025 16:17

I’m on my second healthy pregnancy, wasn’t sick with either! Puked once with my first daughter after drinking a caramel latte that didn’t agree with me, not thrown up at all with my second (due in 2 weeks) I actually didn’t find out I was pregnant till I was 16 weeks with second as had zero symptoms. I just thank the pregnancy gods every day that I’ve been so lucky

I had hyperemesis with my girl and two miscarriages. Didn't find out I was expecting my boy until 7.5 weeks. I had a little bit of nausea. I had been banking on the sickness to tell me when to do the pregnancy test!

Shufflebumnessie · 29/10/2025 16:37

With my first pregnancy, I had mild nausea for the first 3 months and then nothing. My skin & hair were awful. Baby #1 was a boy.

Second pregnancy, I had horrendous vomiting from the beginning which lasted all the way through the pregnancy. Could hardly eat or drink anything. It was constant sickness, day & night. My skin & hair were amazing (until I gave birth and then I lost virtually all of my hair!!). Baby #2 was a girl.

ghostyslovesheets · 29/10/2025 17:23

3 girls here - virtually no symptoms beyond sore boobs and tiredness

TheOnlyWayisGerard · 29/10/2025 18:07

I had hyperemesis with my first (girl). Barely any sickness with my second (boy). Large age gap though, don’t know if that made a difference (13 years).
