Gender scan opinion

So we had a gender scan at the weekend at 17 weeks 3 days. Baby was being really awkward and had their legs shut the whole time. There were two sonographers in the room and in the end they both came to the conclusion it’s a girl, but looking at the pictures I’m honestly confused what they’re seeing to suggest that. It’s not that I don’t trust them I’m just trying to understand the images more. I think the angle is throwing me off. In the first image I can kind of see the three lines that they say indicate girl but in the second image I don’t really see what I’m looking at.

Just realised it says the images are under review

Does it matter? We liked our surprises!

No expert but I see the lines in both so looks like a girl to me… will they look again at the 20 week scan?

No, it definitely doesn’t matter we are over the moon either way! I think it’s lovely that you waited for it to be a surprise, I’m personally too nosey to wait! It’s more just coming from a place of me trying to interpret the images. As a first time mum I think naively I just imagined I would see an obvious gender a lot more clearly and was just baffled what they were seeing that I can’t!

Thank you! My partner says he can see the lines in both too but I can only in the one which is what has thrown me. Guess it’s just me. Definitely going to ask for another opinion at our 20 week scan, perhaps baby will be cooperating more and give us a clearer image! It really doesn’t matter either way but I’m just curious hence booking the scan in the first place

If it was a boy, it would be more obvious. I had lots of medically essential scans from 12 weeks and although ‘too early’ to confirm, it was very clear it was a boy

@Acaciaxx I think girl. Is this first baby? I am done having babies but it’s so exciting!

Thank you! This is what I was initially thinking, I had imagined in my head before going to the scan that if it were a boy we would be able to see very clearly! And actually I’d had a feeling the baby was going to be a boy, but seems like most likely not!

Yes, first baby! It really is all so exciting and feels a bit surreal at times! I think this was part of the reason we were so keen to know the gender because I’ve just been wanting to imagine what they might be like

Im so happy for you! I would have loved the surprise of not knowing what my babies were but I am so nosey! I didn’t even care about clothes/decorating nursery I just wanted to think of names.
Are any of your friends mums? I was both the first and then last of my friends to get pregnant (massive age gap between eldest and youngest) so i have found chatting to other parents online a terrific help.

Thank you so much! We’re the same, a surprise would be lovely but realistically I’ve been wondering since I first found out I was pregnant whether it will be a little boy or a little girl! It’s so special isn’t it sitting down and thinking of names etc.
I have one friend that has had a baby in the last few years so now that we’ve finally shared the news she’s been so helpful to talk to. There’s so much to learn. It’s amazing that people can connect online too and help each other, and no question seems too silly because guaranteed someone else has been there!
