Antenatal - Croydon , Princess Royal , Epsom or East Surrey hospitals

Hello

We have just found out we’re pregnant 🥳🤩-
we went private and had ivf
It’s still early days , but I need to register and do a self referral form for the antenatal.

We live in Croydon , so our closest hospital is Croydon but I found the communication at the fertility department awful so it’s put me off going there.

Has anyone got any good recommendations for local hospitals please 🤞🏻

Croydon is our closest
Princess Royal at Orpington is the next closest I’ve heard mixed reviews
East Surrey
Epsom

And also a question if I were to refer with Croydon - I wouldn’t have to give birth etc
it’s our first baby so I havnt got a clue 😅

I would choose Croydon or St Georges. East Surrey is a trek to get to and so is Epsom.

Roughly where in Croydon?

You also have St Helier, St George’s, St Thomas’ and Kings which would all be potentially closer than ESH and Epsom.

You would have to factor in journey times to each, whether you would make it to your chosen unit in the event of spontaneous labour.
Also, if you had to call an ambulance for an obstetric emergency they would likely take you to your closest unit regardless (depending on the circumstances)

Did you decide where to go Op? I am 20 mins each way between Epsom and Croydon and not sure which to pick.

I’ve had to register with Croydon
but I think after 16+ weeks I can ask to transfer
or alternately turn up at the hospital I want to give birth in
