Hello mums and mums to be!

I have children already and my husband had a successful vasectomy 3 years ago, confirmed by having samples analysed.

I track my periods which are reliably 25-27 days apart. This month however, after a weekend away with my husband, my period came on day 33. That morning, I did a test just for reassurance, and this is what came up.

This looks very similar to positives I've had with my children. It was only very faint within the time limit, so could have been an evap that got darker?! Or dye run?

Obviously my period has started now but just not sure what to think.

This must be a mistake surely?

Also my 6 day+ usual period has pretty much stopped after 3 days and hasn't been very heavy.

I know the chances of pregnancy after vasectomy are vanishingly low so I don't know what to make of this test.

What is going on?!

That really does look like a positive. Try again in a couple of days in the morning and see if it's a stronger line. 🤞For the result you want

I think it looks positive too! Did you have implantation bleeding with your other DC?

Labadore · 26/10/2025 22:39

No, I've never had it. And from what I've read that would be more like light spotting whereas this was pretty significant bleeding just not quite as heavy as usual and only for 2 days really. Which is very odd!

But like I say, my husband had a successful vasectomy so surely there is no way?!

I will do another test but I suspect it will be negative anyway for this cycle. But I do worry it was maybe a chemical and the vasectomy has failed or something.

Can you get just random dud tests that show a false positive?

Your husband needs to get checked in case his vasectomy has failed, I know more than one couple that have had a surprise addition years after a vasectomy was ‘successful’.

Labadore · 27/10/2025 00:09

Bloody hell. He would be gutted. I have done plenty of tests in my life and only had lines like this when they've been positive.

Fairly confident I'm not pregnant now because of the bleeding but he's going to have to ask for another sample to be checked I guess to make sure

Hi everyone,
im currently 16 weeks pregnant with an about to turn 16 month old and really struggling to get him to sleep in his own bed.
We put him down awake for bedtime and he will go to sleep with no issues, he wakes up around 30 minutes later and won’t go back down. I’ll bring him down to the sofa with me and he’ll fall asleep instantly. Once I bring him back up to bed he’ll stay for another 30 minutes and then up again over and over. He climbed out of his crib around a week ago so we lowered the crib.
does anyone know what I can do? He just started getting on like this around 2 weeks ago he used to be such a good sleeper. I’m completely drained and don’t know what to do anymore.

thank you for your time❤️

any other false positive experiences?🙏

No experience here but I'm just wondering... have you tested again?
Also, I'm not sure of your age, but is there any possibility that you could be in perimenopause which is causing hormone fluctuations and irregular periods? I've read that peri can cause false positives but... they are rare. It could also have been a chemical in which case it's worth getting your husband checked again.

Labadore · 28/10/2025 10:56

I'm 34 so I guess could be the start of hormonal changes.. my period started soon after that test so I guess I'll never know! Definitely going to get a semen sample checked though just for peace of mind

I’d be testing again soon. My second baby had implantation bleeding that lasted three days and seemed like a period. If I hadn’t been trying I might have just accepted that as my period and never tested.

LambriniBobInIsleworthISeesYa · 28/10/2025 13:48

Sorry, meant to add: didn’t have so much as a drop of implantation or any other kind of bleeding with DD1. Different pregnancies, different things.
