Implantation or miscarriage?

I am currently 7w4d pregnant. Went to the toilet this morning and wiped and had bloody discharge which was quite dark but not fresh looking. I unfortunately had a miscarriage in April so have rode this train before and although in the last miscarriage there was more blood than there is now of course I'm going to panic. I have been to the toilet since, no blood when wiping from what I can see but do have a pad on just to monitor as per 111s advice (Currently waiting for a clinician to call me back with it being Sunday as no Epu is open and my midwifes phone is off). I was also diagnosed with strepB so currently on antibiotics atm but just wondering if anyone has had any success stories with slight bleeding and had a successful pregnancy? I unfortunately suffer with MH so I have been a mess all morning and can't think straight or even think positive as I'm just thinking the worst. Any advice would be appreciated, thank you.

I'm sorry you're going through this. It's very tough. That the blood is dark means it's old blood as opposed to fresh new blood which is a better sign. I've seen posts on here from women who have had similar bleeds in early pregnancy and everything is OK. I'm in a WhatsApp pregnancy group for folks due in April and some there have had similar. It's been down to irritation in their cervix or little bleeds that were not anything sinister.

I had light spotting at the beginning of my current pregnancy and again around the 10 week mark. It made me so worried and, like yourself, I have had previous losses. You've did the right thing ringing for advice and hopefully they'll see you tomorrow for an early reassurance scan. My GP agreed to put me on progesterone and low dose aspirin this pregnancy. That doesn't prevent miscarriage but it can help support a pregnancy. I hope all goes OK for you xx

Hey @OneHappyDreamer

So sorry you're going through this - particularly tough given its a weekend and your history.

Dark blood, and nothing since would suggest old blood. TMI I know but did you by any chance have sex recently? As irritation often knocks out some old blood!

Thanks for your response BudgetBuster

No sex recently as too scared to do anything as when I have "finished" I get intense cramps so sustaining from any fun atm. Clinician just called back from 111 and advised it could be implantation or the fact my cervix is soft or something which can cause bleeding but usually nothing to worry about and if it gets worst to go straight to a&e but to call EPU in the morning and try and bring my scan forward from Thursday! I've done nothing but worry this pregnancy and seeing that this morning brought all the memories of my previous mc back :(

Thank you so much for your response. They have finally called me back and advised it is common but if the bleeding/pain does get any worst to go straight to a&e. I have checked since and no blood when wiping or on the pad as was advised to monitor how many pads I'm using but the dot of blood on the pad is more brown than anything. It just scared me this morning when I wiped as it was brownish with bloody discharge so I've spent the majority of my morning crying thinking the worst. I do feel better now I have spoken to the clinician I just hope epu will bring my scan forward from Thursday to tomorrow once I have spoke to them in the morning xxx

Just thought I would update everyone. My scan got brought forward from Thursday to today and baby is measuring as 8 weeks which I am today, very strong heartbeat and all is well. They advised the bleeding could of been because I have a bruise near where baby is so this is where the blood has potentially come from. Still got a while to go yet and no doubt a whole lot more anxiety but so far so good little bean is healthy🌈💞

Thank you so much! I was a nervous wreck before the scan expecting the worse but all being well everything is okay! They have also prescribed progesterone as well x

just seen this thread and sending you huge hugs. Been there myself after a miscarriage and you do panic about everything with following pregnancy. If it helps I have a lovely dd then miscarriage then 2 wonderful sons. But I once ended up at a&e with awful pain across my tummy. Turned out it was wind :) Slightly embarrassed that I got everyone up in the middle of the night to look after our daughter. So light can be at the end of the tunnel. Keeping prayers and fingers crossed for you and relaxing time going forward 💕
