I’m pregnant with no4 and have so far never gone overdue, hopefully I won’t this time too but it is the first boy.

I was exactly 40w with my first
39+1 with my second
exactly 40w with my third

does everyone else tend to give birth around the exactly same time each labour?

My sister had hers 10 days late at 7 days late, then her third 2 days late.

my mum went late, late, due date, early.

I’m 35 weeks so not expecting to give birth anytime soon, but the Braxton hicks have been much worse this time - go figure with it being the 4th. I’ve had a few times of some that are as intense as labour was but only for an hour and they die off, usually just when I overdo it though.

I’ve not really got anything ready for giving birth yet, need to wash the car seat as it’s been in storage, wash the next to me, sort hospital bag. I’ve been procrastinating it a bit because I almost feel like this time I’ll go overdue 😂 the pregnancy itself has been crazy different to the first 3, they were a breeze and this little devil has been a tricky one to carry.

I usually give birth very fast too, 4 hours from nothing to everything done each time.
What’s everyone else’s experience been like a 4th time around?

I've only had 2 but...
1st spontaneous labour waters broke 37+4, contractions for about 8-10 hours
2nd waters broke spontaneously at 40+4 (this felt very overdue to me given how early my first was!!!) and a fast delivery within about 3hrs of contractions starting
Expecting 3rd now and so curious how it will go!!
Interested to see the diff experiences

DramaAlpaca · 21/10/2025 12:33

DC1 spontaneous labour at 39+2 (32 years ago today - I'm old!)
DC2 spontaneous labour at 40+5
DC3 spontaneous labour at 39+2

I didn't go for No. 4, but if I had they'd probably have arrived at 40+5 to follow the pattern Grin

Northcoastmama · 21/10/2025 12:35

First spontaneous labour at 38 + 4 second at 39+ 5 both within an oz of each other weight wise, I think my body just ejects them at the 8lb mark 😂

FinallyMovingHouse · 21/10/2025 12:38

DC1 - waters broke 2 weeks early (turned out that he was a missed back to back presentation, so HV advised it was likely that was the cause)
DC2 - arrived at 40 +2
DC3 - arrived on due date

38 weeks, 39 weeks, 39 weeks, 40 weeks, 40 weeks then last one 38 weeks, have noticed a pattern with friends who have only had 2-3 children e.g if overdue first time often similar next time
p.s edit - sorry about the unnecessary original quote, just to add most babies will naturally come within 10 days of their due date, all 6 of mine did … only just!! However also to be aware that the induction rates are through the roof now so few women get away without being offered an induction these days, I was with my last but she made it just before the date herself

Upthenorth · 21/10/2025 12:48

DC1 42 weeks
DC2 induced at 41+2

I guess they were both comfy in there.

Ha yes similar here, despite being nearly 2 weeks difference between 2 of them, thought I’d be having a 10lb baby with the last one but she just decided to come 10 days early and be the same weight as the others. Although developmentally she was definitely still 2 weeks behind in alertness, smiling etc and that’s been noticeable for the first year, e.g walked at almost exactly 2 weeks age wise behind sister born 2 weeks later!

Superscientist · 21/10/2025 14:41

My mum was 40 weeks 37 weeks then 41 weeks - she had a lot of Braxton hicks with number 3 and was in and out for the last few weeks thinking she was in labour but wasn't. Her second labour was 20 minutes!
With my first I was 38+6 and was induced at 37 weeks but had been having contractions since 33 weeks due to an irritated uterus.
Interesting about the weights they were 30g different despite the second being 12 days earlier.

amilliondreamsofsleep · 21/10/2025 14:45

officially gave birth: 40w6, (contractions from 40w, my dates put me a week further along and he definitely looked like a 42 weeker)
40+2 (Labour from 40+1)
40+1 (Labour from 40+0)

nicely timed babies :)

Aweekoffwork · 21/10/2025 14:49

10 days late
5 days late
5 weeks early 😳

Ohthatsabitshit · 21/10/2025 14:52

39 weeks
38 weeks
36 weeks
41.5 weeks

Junebrick · 21/10/2025 14:54

41+3 both times. Had sweeps with both. Waters had to be broken with both. Feel like my body needed coaxing into giving birth tbh

Tralalalama · 21/10/2025 14:56

38+5
38+4
38+1

i bet I would have another week 38er

Lafoosa · 21/10/2025 15:31

@Ohthatsabitshit I bet you were knackered by the end of that when you’d previously been early! I hope I don’t go over, or if I do that my energy levels go back up beforehand

Yes and the baby was hugemungous! I’d been “ready” for nearly two months. Still high maintenance but a joy.

StuntNun · 21/10/2025 16:31

40+1
40+1
41
35

Harriet9955 · 21/10/2025 16:34

I have four and never gone to due date with any. Ds2 was six weeks premature and the other three just around 3 or 4 days early.

Myfamilyisquirky · 21/10/2025 16:52

DC1 overdue 10 days induction DC2 spontaneous labour on due date ! DC3 40 + 5 DC4 40 + 3 DC5 40 + 7. I did find with the later pregnancys that the Braxton hicks give me lots of false hope stop and start labours till things kicked in.

xMonochromeRainbowx · 22/10/2025 13:58

First born at 38+3 after induction but was already 3cm so would have probably been born very soon anyway

Second born 38+4 spontaneous labour

Third born 31+3 spontaneous labour

I'm pregnant again (9+2) and really scared of another preterm birth which I'm high risk for.

Chafing · 22/10/2025 14:00

40+12
40+8
Due date
37+2

oforjceosn · 22/10/2025 18:49

All 3 spontaenous labour 38+1.

I had tricky pregnancies so glad I was never overdue.

hiredandsqueak · 22/10/2025 19:07

1st waters broke at 37w
2nd ELCS at 40w
3rd induced term plus 9
4th waters broke at 39w
5th waters broke at term plus 3
Needed syntocin drip each time as no contractions.

ClassicBBQ · 22/10/2025 19:10

1st-induced at 37+3 due to low waters. A very, very long labour!
2nd-40+3, 2 hour water birth.
3rd-41 weeks, 4 minutes from waters breaking to her arriving!

BabyToothbrush · 22/10/2025 21:05

DC1 40
DC2 40+10
DC3 39+2

So all within 3 weeks of each other but a significant gap between the earliest and latest - and those were the two of the same sex.

sakura06 · 22/10/2025 21:06

First was 8 days late (although I thought the midwives and doctors miscalculated her due date and she was 5 days late by my calculations). Second came on her due date.
