Morning all!

How are we?

I am 15weeks pregnant, got a lovely little bump coming along, and despite still being sick daily (with my daughter 14 years ago I was glowing by now) I am not complaining at all, after a second term loss last year.

However what I would really like is a slightly more comfortable sleep. I’ve been looking at pregnancy pillows which ones have you found to be the better ones?

I’m getting loads of adverts on my socials but I’m always a bit dubious of the AI reviews etc. I’ve previously had a V pillow but couldn’t quite get the hang of what to do or how to do it and found it uncomfortable. Is there anywhere I can go to feel them/look at them etc? I miss MotherCare!

Thank you!

I got one off Amazon that converted into a baby nest/resting pillow. It was like a big u shaped sausage and I put it in between my knees when I slept and popped it a bit under my bump in the last trimester mainly to help prop up my hips. It was about €30 I think, but probably a couple of normal pillows would’ve done the job too but then there would’ve been less space for hubby… oh well! 🫣😂

LER2023 · 21/10/2025 10:57

I second amazon. It was around £25 - £30, my DP has no room in the bed because it takes majority of the bed, but during the second trimester with PGP i slept like a baby!!
It helped with bump and hips!

Now ive rolled it up onto itself so i can prop myself up on my back in the last couple of weeks for more comfort from my hips! (Approval from midwife)

DP has space to lay now and sometimes likes to lay on the long end of the pillow.
Mine is also like a U shape, one side longer than the other, one for back support and other for hip/bump support.

And when baby is here i'll be using the long side to strap around me for feeding comfort.

Dont be paying for the stupidly expensive ones that are £60+ when you can get them just as good on amazon and next day delivery or same day if you have prime!

Thanks ladies!

I think I have SPD which is pretty much exactly the same as PGP and it really flared today. Going to try and get a GP appointment tomorrow but I wanted to get a pillow and see if that helps too!

I like to go on recommendations, although I’ve done this before it was 15 years ago I was pregnant, in fact today 15 years ago I had my 12 week scan!

BBHugme!

It’s expensive but I love mine: I still use it and my LO is almost 2! Before pregnancy I used to sleep with a pillow between my knees due to a longstanding injury, but the Hugme was a revelation there: it supports my whole body, and especially being able to have my ankle elevated and on the same level as the hip and knee helped so much. If you’re suffering with SPD you might find that helps a lot; I had PGP in the later part of pregnancy and the pillow helped make lying down bearable.

My husband sometimes complains about the space it takes up, but I tell him that if I had to choose between him and the pillow, the pillow would win every time Grin

Have a look on Vinted as you can often get new or nearly-new ones there for less.
I also recommend the BB nursing pillow if you plan to breastfeed. I didn’t think I needed a separate pillow, but I was gifted one and loved it as well. It’s also still used, most recently by DH who had a broken wrist: he rested his arm on it while sleeping to keep it somewhat elevated.

Get yourself a ball and a belt.
Dr's will send you to physio.
Cut the middle man and show you've started something! A ball is easy to sit on and just move your hips around on and a belt will relieve the pressure from baby😁

ExhaustedPigeon37 · 21/10/2025 18:06

Ah yes a ball! Thank you I didn’t think of that!

I might get these things and wait a few days but it’s so painful every step and getting up and down from chairs.

You could try a long body pillow @ExhaustedPigeon37

Bumbers · 21/10/2025 19:21

I also loved (and we still use!) my BBHug me

ExhaustedPigeon37 · 21/10/2025 19:37

Thanks everyone, I’ve ordered a BBHugMe pillow from JL. Arriving tomorrow. Went for this based on the recommendations and just thought the others might take up too much room in the bed!

I do plan on BF but with DD I didn’t produce enough so had to go on formula, so we will see. Hopefully I can as this pregnancy is completely different and so is my relationship etc.

Hubby moaned at the cost, his exact words were “£150… for a pillow… are you joking!?” but I politely reminded him that it took him 30 seconds to get me into this position and if he says no I would be padding the bed out with extra pillows and he would be in the spare room for the foreseeable 😂 he didn’t say anything else apart from “when is it arriving then?” 😂😂

TheCraicDealer · 21/10/2025 21:25

You’ve made the right call- I still occasionally sleep with my bbHugMe. DD is 6, DS is 2.5. Didn’t even bother putting it away between pregnancies!

JuniperandI · 22/10/2025 10:25

I use a regular pillow between my knees - I've tried a pregnancy pillow but I get so hot at night that it ends up on the floor!

Second vote for a belly band. It supports my aching lower back beautifully and I can see it doing the same for pelvic and hip pain 😊

'30 seconds to get me in this position'.

How to make a mans balls shrivel up so quick🤣🤣🤣

I literally bought mine off amazon because i just thought it was a lie and that people just buy them to make a scene and act like they actually help.

I know now.. they actually work and im in love with mine!
But i dont think i could justify paying £150 for a pillow😬 even if i use it every night. I mean my OH has always said to me 'if you need it i'll buy it whatever you need to help' but i still couldnt justify £150 when you can get non named pillows on the internet🤣 props to you though!!! I hope it helps you out x

Might be perfect in winter when it starts getting cold. Ive been pregnant through summer and although it was such a bitch for both me and my OH, it was beautiful and so much easier than buying multiple pillows for support.

The belly band is amazing until a certain point, now im 36 weeks i literally cannot wear it without it digging into my back😪

Hahaha! His response is often, but it was 30 seconds every day for about 7 days 😂😂

I mean it is excessive, and I wouldn’t normally spend this much but I went along the lines of “treat yourself” 😂

Also did girl maths… JL have a promotion on at the moment and if you spend over £150 then you get a free box of baby things and when I added that to my basket it was £150. So I spent £303 but because of the promotion I only paid £153 so the pillow is 1/2 price and so is the box 😂😂😂 bargain I thought 🤔 Although I don’t think I would’ve bought the box by itself, but let’s just ignore that part 😂

My OH keeps reminding people that it didnt take 2 minutes when people joke about the hard work as man has done🤣
The joke always being ' its the hardest time of a mans life, that 2 minutes is so difficult and you have it easy carrying baby'🫠
He likes to let people know it didnt take 2 minutes and its usually a 'i last longer than 2 minutes dont i love?!' Rather than 'shes been in pain for 8 months, she has to push the baby out and thats going to be hard'🤣🤣
At this point i just go yes ok love🤣🤣

To be honest i would have been sold on the box, depending on what comes in it🤣 i bought the tommee tippee feeding set and every single thing came with a chuffing bottle and dummy😅 so now i have around 13 bottles!🫠

If it comes with a bottle im out🤣🤣

It comes with two bottles!

I’m 100% certain my daughter will steal the Sol De Janeiro!

Although we aren’t new parents, DSD is 12 and she is the youngest, so we are starting again completely new, I used Tommee Tippee with my daughter 14 years ago, are they still just as good?

I’m glad you went with the Hugme @ExhaustedPigeon37, I I hope you like it.

The JL box looks good; I see it has a Mam bottle, we used those with our combi-fed DD and she got on well with them. Lots of other parents we know use them as well, they seem highly regarded.

I also see it has the Frida Windi! I’ve never used it but you might enjoy this amazing review of it 😂

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha, I actually laughed so much I made myself heave and be sick!

I never would have ever thought I’d need such an item! I only ordered the box because it was free! How times have changed in the past 14 years!!
