Hi
I am 27 weeks pregnant and had my antenatal appointment last week.

I had severe preeclampsia in my last pregnancy and am being consultant led this time. However, I can’t ever seem to get hold off my actual midwife and I’ve only ever met her once.

I was checking badger notes and can see my urine has protein in. No one has told me this but I text my midwife last week and had no reply. I have another midwife’s number so also text her and had no reply too. I need to know if it’s something to worry about and don’t trust that my midwife would be in touch if it was.

What would you do in this situation? Should I just leave it (but I don’t have another appointment for a couple of weeks) or try and get hold of someone else?

thanks

Hi,
I’m sorry that you can’t get in touch with your midwives! Have you tried calling instead of texting or do you have the number of your closest maternity assessment unit for advice? There should definitely be an answer there!

Call your community midwife number and see if you can get through to an actual human.
Failing that, I would just call maternity triage for advice. They may ask you to go in and repeat your urine and do bloods to check your PE risk factor and do your blood pressure.
I found triage so much more helpful than my midwife who always dismissed everything I said.

I would also call them, and if no answer call triage and explain.
