Cyclogest and constipation

Hi ladies, I’m in early pregnancy after IVF and am on 3 x Cyclogedt progesterone pessaries a day. I mix between front and back but past few days I’ve been v constipated and am anxious that the rectal ones might not be effective if ‘something’ is in the way when you put them in. Does anyone have any words or encouragement to put my mind at ease? x

Constipation is a side effect of cyclogest, no matter how it goes in. The ones you put in rectally wouldn't be in the way because they absorb pretty quickly. Unfortunately constipation is a side effect of pregnancy too!

Chat with your GP, they'll be able to prescribe you something 😁

Constipation is always a worry when you're pregnant. Am on cyclogest tooo. I drink fybogel on 2nd or 3rd day that I am Constipated...

Hello! Best to speak to your GP or clinic but I can't imagine it would affect absorption! It does happen pretty quickly after insertion.

I'm on 3 a day and do 2x vaginally and 1x rectally, but it's made me go to the loo more rather than constipated - not sure what's better! 🙈😂 Either way I've been reassured by my clinic that all these side effects are completely normal. Everything is quite worrying when you've gone through IVF though isn't it!
