Trying for a baby when coming off the Pill - Desogestrel

I am asking for advice - to add context, a week ago I actually wrote a post because I missed a pill and was scared of potentially falling pregnant and it being ectopic whilst on the pill. I carried on taking it so its a week later, I had a withdrawal bleed all seems normal.. I guess it would be too early to tell.. ss i said it would be ok we wanted ajother baby but said we would try next year.
Anyway, after discussing with my partner, we have agreed we might as well start trying as we dont want a big age gap between our current baby and a sibling. However I am still feeling nervous to stop and want some advice and experiences on how long cycles took to return and how long to took to fall pregnant, a friend told me to use protection to allow first period this could help avoided ectopic risk.
We were lucky and conceived quickly with our first with no worries or problem and am just hoping we have the same experience!
Just interested to know what other did. And the reason i feel worried is because someone mentioned the risks of falling wjen coming straight off the pill.

My periods came back within 4 weeks, 6 weeks max and were just regular and normal from then on. Was only on the pill for about 9 months each time as I've done this twice.

Hello OP, I’m a contraception nurse. There’s no increased risk of an ectopic after stopping the pill 🙂 you can TTC immediately if you want to, although I often suggest waiting for first period just to help with tracking dates, but really it is fine to get pregnant any time. If you are considering TTC in the very near future, I would start folic acid supplements now.

Good luck!

Hello! Baby 1 was concieved 2 weeks after stopping the mini pill. Baby 2 took 6 weeks ☺️

I had an ectopic pregnancy between 1 and 2. The Dr said it wouldn't have been related to the pill (but a contraception nurse has already confirmed that on the thread as well👍)

@WetBandits Thanks for commenting.
I know its not a said for everyone but is there rough time frame or I guess everyone is different?
Also due to me missing a pill or two last week having a break through bleed and then continuing to take it, if I just stop it again from now..is that ok or?
Thank you xx

@Norry thanks for sharing! Wow just two weeks!!!! I guess it just very varies on different factors too!
I am very excited to stop the pill and seeing what happens. We are not going to track ovulation and be strict on when we did we just want to come off so it's just unknown. Basically I am ideally wanting to be pregnant by January the latest so thinking now would be the best time to stop ...

If you’re ready to be pregnant now, then there’s no reason you can’t just stop taking it straight away ☺️

First time I came off the mini pill I stopped in August, got a positive test in December. Second time I stopped in April and got a positive test in June.
